“Would be a major signing” – Tottenham backed to complete major signing this summer

By Mehdi Gokal -

Tottenham continue to be strongly linked with Conor Gallagher as the summer transfer window approaches.

Chelsea’s standout midfielder, Conor Gallagher, has been on Spurs’ radar since last summer, with the club even submitting a bid on deadline day in September of the previous year. Nevertheless, the deal failed to materialise.

Despite expectations that the Lilywhites would actively pursue the Englishman during the winter transfer window, the North London outfit ultimately displayed no inclination to submit a bid for the midfielder, seemingly holding it out till the summer.

And former Tottenham scout Bryan King remains optimistic that the club will make a concerted effort to secure Gallagher’s services in the upcoming summer transfer window.

The 24-year-old midfielder has less than 15 months remaining on his contract, which is due to expire on June 30th of the following year.

With no updates on a contract renewal, the possibility remains open for Spurs to potentially sign the current captain of their London rivals in the summer.

Former Tottenham scout believes Gallagher would a major signing for Tottenham

In an interview with Tottenham News, Bryan King expressed his belief that signing Gallagher would be a significant addition to the North London outfit.

With Chelsea reportedly seeking £40 million for the midfielder, King views Gallagher’s potential transfer as a no-brainer for the Lilywhites.

Despite Mauricio Pochettino’s reluctance to part ways with the Cobham academy graduate, King believes that the Financial constraints could sway the club hierarchy’s decision in favour of a move to Tottenham.

He said:

“If they could bring Gallagher to the club, that would be a major signing for Tottenham.

“He would certainly strengthen the squad and I think he could form an exciting relationship in midfield with James Maddison.

“When you look at Chelsea at the moment, the last thing Gallagher would want to be doing as captain is sorting out arguments between players over who is going to take a penalty.

“Mauricio Pochettino won’t want to lose Gallagher, but he might not be left with much choice as a result of the financial situation at Chelsea.”
