Tottenham are keen on signing the Real Sociedad midfielder Brais Mendez.
A report from Fichajes claims that Tottenham are ‘at the forefront’ of the transfer chase and the 26-year-old has ’emerged as their main target’.
Mendez has been in fine form this season, scoring five goals and picking up five assist across all competitions. The versatile midfielder is capable of operating as the central attacking midfielder, a central midfielder as well as a winger. His ability to slot into multiple roles and perform at a high-level makes him a very useful option to have.
Ange Postecoglou needs more options at his disposal and the 26 year-old could be a key player for Tottenham in the coming seasons.
The north London outfit have started the season well and they are currently on top of the league table. They will want to sustain the title challenge and they need to bring in quality reinforcements during the January transfer window.
Mendez is reportedly valued at €30 million and Tottenham certainly have the financial resources to get the deal done.
The likes of Manor Solomon and Ivan Perisic are currently sidelined with injuries. Mendez will be able to slot in as a winger if needed. In addition to that, he could operate as the central attacking midfielder as well, allowing Tottenham to rotate key players like James Maddison.
It remains to be seen whether Tottenham can get the deal done in the coming months now.
