Tottenham are interested in signing “unhappy” Premier League star – club will not “stand in his way”

According to Daily Mail, Manchester City are willing to let Aymeric Laporte leave the club if he desires to leave.

The report states that City will not “stand in the way” of the centre-back, who has had a limited role this season, having started only seven league games.

Laporte, who was signed by City from Athletic Bilbao for £57m, has reportedly been unhappy with the lack of playing time and is keen on a move away.

A recent report from 90min has named Tottenham and PSG as the two clubs interested in the left-sided centre-back, with Tottenham in dire need of a left-sided centre-back.

Manchester City have a recent history of selling to other Premier League clubs, as evident by the recent transfers of Gabriel Jesus, Oleksandr Zinchenko, and Raheem Sterling. However, whether the player will be keen on a move to Spurs remains to be seen.

Laporte has been a key player in Pep Guardiola’s recent success, particularly in the last season, where he played through a pain barrier to help City beat Liverpool to the title.

However, a knee injury kept him out of action for a while, resulting in him losing his place in the City team.

A centre-back is high on Daniel Levy’s transfer list and Tottenham continue to be linked with a number of options ahead of the summer transfer window, with Piero Hincapie, Milan Skriniar, and Bastoni all linked with a move. Laporte is the latest to be linked and he would certainly be a decent option.
