Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur are hoping to sign James Maddison from Leicester City this summer.
The 26-year-old is expected to join a Premier League club after Leicester City were relegated to the Championship.
According to journalist Rudy Galetti, both clubs ‘are in talks with the agent’ of the attacking midfielder, but Newcastle have a slight advantage in the transfer race.
Apparently, Leicester City value the midfielder at €60 million and Newcastle believe that it is a fair price.
🚨🔥 Head-to-head between #Tottenham and #Newcastle for #Maddison.
👀 #NUFC have a slight advantage – they consider about €60m a fair price – but the race is fully open.

Furthermore, Newcastle finished in the Champions League position and they could be a more attractive destination for the player.
It remains to be seen whether Spurs can convince Maddison to join them instead.
Spurs need to add more creativity and goals to their midfield and Maddison is a proven performer in the Premier League.
The midfielder has 10 goals and nine assists to his name across all competitions this past season despite his team’s struggles.
Maddison’s numbers are likely to improve when he’s playing alongside better players, and someone like him could improve Tottenham immensely in the final third.
His arrival would help create more goalscoring opportunities for players like Harry Kane as well.
Tottenham are unlikely to be able to compete with Newcastle financially and they will be hoping that the player is keen on joining them instead of Newcastle.
It remains to be seen how the situation unfolds over the next few weeks.
Tottenham will not be able to offer Maddison European football next season, and that could prove to be decisive in the transfer chase.
