Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for the Southampton midfielder James Ward-Prowse in recent weeks.
A report from Football Insider claims that the north London club are big admirers of the England international and they are likely to make a move for him when the summer transfer window opens.
The 28-year-old has been linked with a move away from Southampton especially because of their performances this season. The Saints are in real danger of going down to the Championship and Ward-Prowse will want to stay in the top flight.
The England midfielder is too good for the Championship and he is unlikely to have a shortage of suitors in the Premier League.
Tottenham could definitely use more creativity and goals from the midfield and Ward-Prowse would be a superb acquisition.
The 28-year-old is at the peak of his career and he is well-settled in the Premier League. He wouldn’t need a lot of time to adapt and he could make an immediate impact next season.
Meanwhile, the arrival of Ward-Prowse would add a new dimension to the Tottenham attack. The 28-year-old is an exceptional free-kick taker and he is closing in on a Premier League record.
The Southampton midfielder has 17 goals from direct free-kicks in the Premier League and he is just one goal shy of David Beckham’s record of 18 free-kick goals.
It remains to be seen whether Tottenham can agree on a fee with Southampton in the coming months and secure the services of the England international.
