Tottenham ‘looking for a new club’ for highly-rated player they paid €15m for

The move to Tottenham Hotspur hasn’t really gone according to plan for Alejo Véliz so far and he could head out on loan once again.

The 20-year-old striker who left Argentina to join English giants Tottenham Hotspur last summer is struggling to get enough minutes during his loan spell at Sevilla and the North London club are ‘looking for a new club’ for him according to TyC Sports.

He came up the ranks at Rosario Central and made quite a name for himself early on in his career. The 20-year-old striker was on the radar of multiple top clubs and Spurs managed to win the race for his signatures. They signed the Argentine youth international for €15 million.

During the first half of the 2023/24 season, they used him in eight Premier League games but the striker managed a total of 45 minutes of first-team action. He even managed to score once despite the limited game time.

Alejo Veliz has struggled at Sevilla

Tottenham ended up sending him out on loan to Sevilla during the winter transfer window in order to help him gain some regular first-team action. However, the move hasn’t worked out as planned. The 20-year-old striker has only featured in three games for the Spanish club where he has racked up just 23 minutes.

While Véliz is all set to return to his parent club in the summer, they are unlikely to keep him at the club for the 2024/25 season. Spurs want to ensure he gets enough first-team minutes to continue his progress and are on the lookout for a new club to send him out on loan again. They want to send him to an important club so that he can prepare himself to compete with the very best out there.
