Tottenham Hotspur are leading the race to sign Patrick Dorgu from Lecce.

The 20-year-old left-back has attracted interest from multiple Premier League clubs, but the North London club are currently leading the charge for a signature. It will be interesting to see if they can get the deal across the line.

According to a report from TBR Football, Chelsea, Crystal Palace, West Ham United and Nottingham Forest are all keen on securing his services.

Tottenham could certainly use more depth in the left-back department and the 20-year-old defender would be a solid long-term investment. Ben Davies will be out of contract at the end of this season and he will need to be replaced adequately. Dorgu could compete with Destiny Udogie for the starting spot at Tottenham.

According to a report from Caught Offside, the player is valued at £50 million, and it will be interesting to see if Tottenham are willing to pay up. Although the asking price seems like a premium, the Denmark international has the quality to justify the investment in the coming seasons.

It remains to be seen how the situation develops.

Tottenham need to improve their squad if they are serious about winning major trophies. Someone like Dorgu is regarded as an elite prospect and he could develop into a star with the right guidance. The investment could prove to be a masterstroke in the long term, and it remains to be seen whether Spurs are ready to break the bank for him now.

Meanwhile, the defender could be attracted to the idea of competing in English football. It would be a major step up in his career and he would get to test himself against world-class defenders in the Premier League. Regular football in England could accelerate his development and help him fulfil his potential.
