Tottenham ‘admirers’ of Brazilian star, have ‘made it known’ they are ready to pay €20m

By Saikat -

Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing the Roma defender Roger Ibanez.

According to a report from Giallorossi.net, the Brazilian defender is valued at €40 million but Tottenham have ‘made it known’ that they are prepared to spend a sum of around €20 million for the player.

The 24-year-old has established himself as a key player for Roma and his versatility would make him a quality addition to the Tottenham side.

A number of European clubs are thought to be keen on the Brazilian and Tottenham are ‘admirers’ of the versatile defender as well. Ibanez can play as a full-back, a central defender as well as a defensive midfielder. He could be an asset for Ange Postecoglou’s side next season.

It remains to be seen whether Tottenham can convince Roma to let him leave for €20 million in the coming weeks. Apparently, Roma could be willing to settle for a fee of around €30-32 million.

It is no secret that Tottenham need to bring in a quality partner for Cristian Romero and the Brazilian would be a superb acquisition. The 24-year-old is still quite young and he is likely to improve with coaching and experience. He could develop into a key player for the London club in the coming seasons.

Tottenham will have to tighten up at the back if they want to get back into the Champions League and compete for trophies. They have been quite vulnerable defensively this season and they have missed out on a top-four finish as a result of that.
