Newcastle United star striker Alexander Isak is on the wishlist of Tottenham Hotspur.
Ange Postecoglou is gearing up for an all-important transfer window where he will look to give shape to his squad for next season. Spurs are expected to undergo major changes as the Australian looks to reinforce his squad in an attempt to take the next step.
While they will look to strengthen multiple positions on the pitch, signing a new forward who adds goals and makes them more threatening going forward is a top priority for the North London club. And, according to a report from The Athletic, Newcastle’s Alexander Isak is on their radar.
The former Real Sociedad star has gone from strength to strength since making the move to the Magpies in the summer of 2022. The Swedish international didn’t have the best debut seasons because of injuries but he showcased his true potential in the 2023/24 campaign with 25 goals and two assists in 40 outings across competitions.
The 24-year-old striker whose contract with Newcastle runs until the summer of 2028 is only going to get better with time. His impressive performances and huge potential haven’t gone unnoticed and there is no shortage of interest in him. Tottenham are one of the clubs linked with the Swedish international.
The North London club want to land a top-quality number nine in their squad in the summer. They want someone who can hold up the play and bring others around them into the thick of things. People at the club admire Isak and feel he could be an ideal fit given his recent track record.
But, signing him won’t be an easy task, the Magpies consider him an integral part of their plans moving ahead and with four years left on his deal, they will demand a fortune to sanction his departure. Something that might not work out in Spurs’ favour.
