Tottenham Hotspur are hoping to sign Roger Ibanez from Roma before the summer transfer window closes.
According to a report via Corriere Giallorosso, Tottenham could use Ben Davies in an exchange deal to sign the 24-year-old Brazilian defender.
The report claims that the Welsh international ‘could be a part of a hypothetical exchange’ for the Brazilian.
Ben Davies has been an important first-team player for Tottenham and he made 31 appearances in the Premier League last season.
It will be interesting to see if Tottenham are willing to get rid of him in order to sign Ibanez.
The Brazilian defender has done quite well in the Italian league and he could be a quality partner for Cristian Romero next season.
It is no secret that Tottenham need to bring in a quality central defender but they cannot afford to weaken the squad in the left-back department either.
Tottenham used Ivan Perisic as a wing-back quite often last season and the experienced Croatian winger is expected to move on this summer.
Tottenham will have to sign a quality left-back as well.
Ibanez certainly has the quality to succeed in the Premier League and he could help Tottenham tighten up at the back next season.
Swap deals are often difficult to execute and it remains to be seen whether Tottenham can get the deal done in the coming weeks.
Spurs have already agreed on deals to sign Guglielmo Vicario and Dejan Kulusevski so far. They are thought to be closing in on James Maddison as well.
