Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Giovani Lo Celso is reportedly considering an exit from the club during the January transfer window.
The 27-year-old had expected to play more often this season but things have not gone according to plan for the Argentine international.
As per Fichajes, Real Betis are interested in the midfielder and the player has expressed his preference of joining the Spanish club despite receiving offers from other clubs.
Lo Celso believes that he will be able to showcase his qualities on a regular basis with a move to Real Betis and it remains to be seen whether Tottenham are prepared to sanction his departure in January.
The report claims that the player and his agents are ‘working hard to find a solution’.
Apparently, the player has had interest from clubs like Barcelona as well but he has made a ‘clear choice’ that he wants to join the club coached by Manuel Pellegrini.
The 27-year-old has played for Real Betis in the past and therefore it is hardly a surprise that he wants to return to the Spanish club. He will be hoping to get his career back on track with regular football once the transfer is finalised.
There is no doubt that Lo Celso is a top-quality playmaker but his opportunities are limited at Spurs. The North London outfit have already signed James Maddison earlier this summer and the Argentine is unlikely to have ample opportunities.
Leaving in January would be ideal for all parties. Spurs should look to reinvest that money into a striker.
