Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly one of the clubs keeping tabs on the Manchester United defender Harry Maguire.
It is no secret that Tottenham will have to reinforce their defensive unit and they are hoping to secure the England international services.
A report from Fichajes claims that Tottenham have ’emerged as a possible destination’ for the 30-year-old defender whose days are numbered at Manchester United. Maguire has fallen down the pecking order at Old Trafford and he needs to leave the club in order to play more often.
Tottenham could provide him with the platform to get his career back on track once again.
The report further states that the English defender is ‘one of Postecoglou’s requests’ to improve the London club’s defence.
Cristian Romero is the only reliable defender at the club right now and Spurs must look to bring in upgrades on Davinson Sanchez and Eric Dier.
Clement Lenglet has returned to his parent club upon the expiry of his loan deal and Japhet Tanganga is also expected to move on in search of regular playing time.
Signing a quality central defender should be a top priority and Maguire could prove to be a useful option. Maguire is valued at £30 million by Manchester United.
Although the 30-year-old has been quite underwhelming for Manchester United, he has shown his quality in the Premier League with Leicester City in the past.
If he can regain his confidence in the coming months, he could be an important first-team player for Tottenham Hotspur.
