Those close to Mauricio Pochettino reveal he has one big regret from his time at Tottenham

By Mehdi Gokal -

Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino says he has one big regret from his time at Tottenham.

Pochettino’s time at Tottenham was hugely successful, as he transformed the club into a top-four side during his five-year stint.

He consistently led them to top-four finishes, and the 2016/2017 season saw the team fall just short of the Premier League title, finishing in second place.

Under Pochettino’s guidance, Tottenham also reached the Champions League final in the 2018/2019 season. Although they ultimately lost to Liverpool, it was still one of the club’s best European runs.

However, a report from Independent indicate that those close to him insists that he has a sense of regret about the 2017 period in particular.

This is because he realized that it was the moment when he needed to make significant squad changes, similar to the way legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson routinely refreshed his squads at Manchester United.

But he was not able to do so and eventually the squad instead went stale.

TBH Says:

In hindsight, every manager would look back and think of how things could have been done differently. But from a fan’s point of view, the Pochettino era was perhaps the best we have had in recent times.

We were a team with an identity and a team that was feared. We came close to winning couple of silverware as well but fell just short each time.

But let us forget about the past and focus on the present now. The Ange Postecoglou era has begun and it is the first time since the Poch era that things look positive all around.

We have restored our identity, we are unbeaten in the league and could return to the top spot with a win against Fulham tonight. We are playing some of the best football in the league and all our summer signings have been brilliant.

It is an exciting time as a Tottenham fan. Let us sit back and enjoy the ride.
