New Tottenham gaffer Thomas Frank will not have expected anything less than a need to hit the ground running at Spurs. We’re a big club, and with that come very distinct pressures. The pre-season was varied and saw the former Brentford gaffer having to navigate past sides as diverse as Luton Town and Bayern Munich.
Will Frank meet expectations at Spurs in his first season?
Tottenham kick off its Premier League campaign with a challenging clash against newly promoted Burnley at home tomorrow. Spurs are fancied by the bookies after a more than credible performance against the European Champions, PSG, this week. Newly promoted Burnley are 17/2, while Spurs are in at 2/5.
Off the pitch, the Norwegian had to face yet another bewildering piece of nonsense from Yves Bissouma, who appears to have lost the run of himself again. The Mali footballer of the year was left out of the Super Cup squad due to repeated lateness. This comes on the back of an incident where the African decided it was a good idea to photograph himself taking nitrous oxide, on a night out and publish the picture on his Instagram account.
The boss was asked about the situation and gave a short, sharp response to the press.
“There was a situation. I addressed this. There was a consequence. Bissouma will be in the squad tomorrow. Move forward and we have a big game tomorrow.”
A reasoned approach, yet strong words
One hears all manner of insider tales from football clubs, and it appears once more that the truth is scarier than fiction.

Yves posted again ahead of the Super Cup final, obviously seeking to garner support in what was an image with significant ‘pity me vibes’.
Consequences indeed
Hopefully, the midfielder has learned his lesson, but perhaps as crucially, his teammates will realise they are paid the vast sum they are to follow the rules.
I’d like to see the back of him and the money reinvested in someone a little more focused on the day job.
