This One Pass Sums Up My Despair Surrounding Matt Doherty – video

By The Boy -

We spoke about Davison Sanchez recently and that under close inspection, the problem was essentially his concentration levels. If one thinks about things logically, that’s a HUGE element in a player’s make-up. You can have all the technical ability in the world, but if you cannot apply them in the cut and thrust of a game, then you’re done for. Which explains why all these Tekkers characters are fantastic value in their show ground environments, but have any of them been signed on professional footballers?

This ball from Doherty is horrible, mindless, utterly useless.

As we have established by now, this all José’s fault, eh?

Some of those have just moved recently, but one i would seriously consider is Ousanne Edouard. He would stand in for Kane and play with him i think.Would levy go for it though?

Come on Harry, give it a rest with the Jose defence. I am all for the guy, but this game has to be mostly down to him. He is able to point out the individual errors as the reason we lost the game, this of course is fact. But he fails to realise that he didn’t give us a chance with the lineup he picked, Doherty out of position, this clip actually just highlights that he was playing out of position trying to make a pass with his weaker foot. Rodon in at the deep end, when was the last time he started a game? It’s absolute madness to start a random back five that have not ever played a competetive game together against the champions. Our defence has been one of our strenghts this season, so why did he shake it up for this game?

Yup I thought at the time WTF Doherty. He’s been an unmitigated disaster.Nuno Santos must know something to get him going,it can’t just be the system at Wolves.

A chequebook, good internet and FIFA 21 is all that’s really needed for “scouting”. Or just gazump Wolves, Soton, Leicester, Ajax or Dortumund if that’s too much work. But to save Spurs some money, here’s a list of young guys to sign in the next window: (reposting)

Sandro Tonali,
Mohammed Kudus
Armel Bella Kotchap
Jeremy Doku
Jonathan Camavinga
Jeremy Frimpong
Ousanne Eoudard
Jude Bellingham
Aurelien Tchoumani
Iliaix Moriba
Mohammed Ihatterean
Joelson Fernandes
Youssoufa Moukouko
Kamaldeen Sulemala

His stats had been consistently dependable and he was clearly an effective and sensible buy at the time. He’s gone from a 6/7 rated player sometimes putting in 8/9 performances with Wolves to consistent 5 and below with Spurs. Red cards, penalties, terrible successful actions and can barely find a teammate with a simple pass. It doesn’t make any logical sense but sometimes football isn’t like that and players fail to cut it in a new club.

Watching the game, my 15yr old son started screaming and yelling after that Doherty pass, even a child can see that he shouldn’t be on the pitch. As a right wingback he has been poor, a traditional RB worse and yesterday as a left wingback was shocking. I swear I saw Jose screaming at him at one point. There must be a physical issue. He seems to have settled in well, and his performances at Wolves, especially the last 2 years, have been very good. Unfortunately, with Serge going AWOL and Sergio disabled, we’ll probably be seeing a lot more of Matt in the next few weeks. Let’s hope his form improves, I don’t think it could get much worse.

If I didn’t rate him before he arrived (I did and was delighted we got him) I’d have to say from his performances to date that he’s one of the worst defenders I can recall at Spurs and I’ve been following them for 54 years. Surely he’ll improve?!!

The over budget thing was because levy went for high end everything. 🌚. The concrete contract was worth £90 million alone. Daniel said to them you have to give the club one million for getting the contract 😂 they did

I rate his bloody-minded Ness. When arry did more than levy expected him to do and wanted money to take us further forward levy said “no. This stadium has to be built (then got him Nelson and Saha😂 he wasn’t going to be sidetracked. I rate that. That’s when I knew levy ain’t playing

I can remember when I was working on the new lane project and levy was on a walk about with ledley and couple suits. He looked tall in a hard hat. “Everything alright he said? All good mate. Saw him again on level 5 a few weeks later and he said the same thing. My mate (fruit & veg man in wood green lives on the same road as Levi. He said that levy is a top bloke loved by all his neighbours.

It’s just the language ting breda. I hear that José is really helping him with the language as in he gets instructions in Portuguese and English. Apparently he’s really struggling with it. I know what that’s like. Frustrating. Pure kids TV they’ve got him watching (best way to learn

He’s been awful from day one, that includes every time he’s featured for the national side. Most English commentators can’t pronounce his name. It’s not dough erty.

Haaaa! Robertsonaaa…

Seriously. He had a good spell at Wolves but again he’s a player who largely spent his years in div 1 and championship football. Not the quality required.

Having said that, passes like that are why alarm bell ring for me. There’s always error but you see seemingly mad behavior such as this regular now.

I’d swap him for Doherty right now. I hear good things about him as in he’s a fast learner and a hard trainer

Said it before – our recruitment is poor. While I doubt Klopp gets every player he wants, I reckon he was quite specific about buying the likes of VVD and Allison. They waited for VVD, they didn’t go out and buy someone with his ‘profile’ – they wanted him specifically and they eventually got him. Us? We are grateful for anyone coming in and we hope for the best. PEH might be an exception in that we were linked with him for ages. Ask Jose for a realistic list of players who he actually wants, rather than the type / profile of player he needs. Then get Hitchen to go out and earn his money for a change.

Sick of having backstories and endless dramas with new signings, he was supposed to be similar level to Hojberg, i.e a finished article PL and Europa proven RB/RWB and he can barely play a pass out of defence let alone put a decent cross in. Maybe it’s confidence but whatever it is he’s had half a season to bed in and only seems to be getting worse. Not like he’s switched country or league, he seems to have forgotten to do the basics and that can’t come down to the tactics surely.

Now we’re missing Danny Rose.

He played well for Wolves. I’d like to hear an intelligent explanation for what has happened to his form. Maybe there is an injury or something personal that we don’t know about.

We’re going to find out out now if the player we bought to play when Harry Kane is injured is up to it. The early signs aren’t good as Mourinho seems reluctant to play him.

When Vinicius sees Lamela coming on instead of him what message does that send him. The requirement was a player to step in and score goals in Kane’s absence.

Not a project player, not somebody who needs polishing, somebody like an Ings who can do the job right now. Maybe we’ll see Bale. Our last few signings Doherty, Bale and Vinicius aren’t contributing. I’m not blaming Jose for that.

Yeh you’re right he isn’t 1st team or CL quality. Max Aaron’s is too young but seems to have a good head on his shoulders. Doherty was supposed to be the finished article but he’s just finished
