Things go from bad to worse for Ange as yet another player gets ruled out of the Wolves game

By Mehdi Gokal -

This past week has been a nightmare for Ange. He suffered his first league defeat of the season against London rivals Chelsea.

But the defeat may prove to cost them more than just three points as the game saw two of their best players go off injured. Both James Maddison and Micky van de Ven were taken off just before half-time.

While Maddison’s was just a knock and was taken off on a precaution, the Dutch defender’s injury was a ‘significant’ one which is expected to keep him out for a long time.

He was seen on crutches after the game and the latest reports suggests that while he may not require a surgery, he is still expected to be out until January at least. But Tottenham will be able to suggest a better time-frame after his initial scans are completed.

And if that was not enough, after the game Richarlison revealed that he has been going through health issues and will have to undergo a surgery resolve an ongoing groin issue.

Tottenham today confirmed that the Brazilian underwent a successful surgery and is now in recovery.

As per the club, he will ‘commence his rehabilitation with our medical staff immediately’ and that he would be ‘returning to training in the coming weeks’.

While it is a blow for Spurs, Ange does have options including Brennan Johnson. Richarlison was not expected to start even if he was available due to his struggling form.

Son, Kulusevski, and Brennan Johnson are expected to start against Wolves while Alejo Veliz is expected to get more playing time during Richarlison’s absence.

However, Spurs will hope for a speedy return of the Brazilian since they have a very thin squad and can not afford more injuries at the moment.
