“…these are good players with bad habits” as suddenly the spotlight is on the Tottenham players

Much has been made of what Thomas Frank was lacking, and that he was suddenly found out, coming to a big club like Tottenham. Now, according to Igor Tudor, the issues within the squad are all of its own making. The post-match quotes don’t make for good reading.

Overall, Tudor’s reaction mixed disappointment, anger, and determination, framing the defeat as a wake-up call for Tottenham to refocus on basics, intensity, and seriousness amid their relegation battle. He refused to dwell solely on negativity, viewing it partly as motivation to identify and address the club’s goals.

However, this clip adds weight to the suggestion that Igor has been talking to himself.

In his post-match press conference and interviews, Tudor was brutally honest and visibly frustrated about the performance. He described a significant gap between the teams, highlighting Tottenham’s issues with confidence, bad habits, physical readiness, and tactical execution (particularly in high pressing and defending).

“I’m very sad, I’m very angry, I’m everything! There is a big gap in this specific moment between the two teams. It was too much Arsenal for us in this moment with the problems we have. “The team is full of problems… even with the ball, a lack of confidence is very evident in the team. “To become serious. Serious, not just a group of 20 players… the medicine is you look in the mirror and really try, really start to change the habits – working hard is the only way.”

Igor noted seeing passion and will from the players but said they were unable to execute plans due to current limitations, adding they need to shed “bad habits” and work harder to avoid relegation.

What is clear is that these players have reached the last chance saloon, and pointing at coaches simply will not cut it anymore. There is clearly a disconnect between the squad and the reality of their situation.
