There’s a 3 man shortlist to replace Harry Kane, according to reports

By Mehdi Gokal -

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly identified three players as potential replacements for Harry Kane: Jonathan David of Lille, Gift Orban of Gent, and Mehdi Taremi of Porto, according to CaughtOffside.

The report states that while Mehdi Taremi was one of the targets identified by Tottenham recruitment team as one of the “preferred profiles”, he is no longer considered as a top target with the club exploring other options.

Meanwhile Spurs’ interest in Jonathan David has been largely reported over the last month.

According to Galetti, Spurs believe that David would be available for a reasonable fee, estimated to be around €50 million to €55 million.

He signed for Lille in 2020 and since then has made 136 appearances for them, scoring 58 goals and assisting 9.

As per the report from CaughtOffside, the player “wishes to make a leap to a big club” and if Spurs are to make a suitable bid for him, he would make the move.

Gift Orban meanwhile, is reportedly on top of their list as ‘priority’. with plans to make a bid for him before the transfer window closes as reported by a report from Evening Standard’s Dan Kilpatrick earlier today.

Gent has stated that offers of at least £25.8 million will be seriously considered for the striker.

The report from CaughtOffside suggests that Tottenham may make a formal move for Orban ‘in the coming days’, indicating the club’s intention to strengthen their attacking options and replace Kane adequately.

With Kane’s departure, the club faces the challenge of filling his void and reshaping their squad under new manager Ange Postecoglou.

TBH Says:

Spurs kicked off their Premier League campaign on Sunday under new manager Ange Postecoglou with a 2-2 draw against Brentford.

While it was not the perfect performance, there were a lot of positives to take away from the game.

Kane’s departure has come as a huge blow to Spurs but it was expected. It is now up to the club to replace him adequately so they can fill the void left by the England striker.
