“There is dialogue with Ancelotti and Mourinho” Sami Khedira To Spurs?

By The Boy -

Sami Khedira’s footballing CV is best described as mighty. Aged 33, the right footed man from Stuttgart has won every major honour in the game from 3 domestic titles, the Champions League and even the World Cup. In his 6th season at Juventus, there’s now a suggestion of a Premier League swan-song for the super experienced German.

Joe Miles for The Sun has quotes from the player intimating that lines of communication already exist, certainly as far as Tottenham and Everton are concerned, Mourinho was with him at Real Madrid.

Juve gaffer Pirlo appears not to have fallen out with the 6’2″ player as such, rather is looking to player a different system and Khedira has yet to play a single game so far in this term.

“I would never say no again to Mourinho, but he is not the only guy who I would say I would like to work with again. Ancelotti is doing a great job at the moment and is a great personality. He is one of the coaches who impressed me as well.”

Sami Khedira

It’s pretty clear that Sami is looking to tell the entire league that he is available and looking to make a move – although this would be most likely next summer, as he is still under contract.

Do Spurs have need for a right-sided midfielder? It’s unlikely as the most obvious player Sami might replace is Moussa Sissoko, is also no spring chicken.

I take a view that we will be linked with Khedira, but we will not sign him.

All our squad are playing an important role competing in the EL while giving the team selected for the next PL game a rest.Nine starters against Chelsea had the week off thanks to the other members of the squad doing their part last Thursday. Dele still has an important role to play and if selected will play his 43rd European game for Tottenham. We will more than likely be making the same amount of changes this week to have the players ready for Arsenal. If we are lucky enough to get to the finals or win any of the four competitions that we are in, it can’t be underestimated just how much a squad effort is required and not just the performance on the day by the 11 players picked. Any success in the PL although maybe built upon a smaller selection of players will also be achieved getting the required rest something they wouldn’t get if we were in the CL. Each player has his role to play even the dissapeared Alli. Grealish can always dream of playing European football with his club or if he’s lucky a transfer to a better more competitive club that plays in Europe.I remember when Aston Villa were Kings of Europe.

Leslie, quoting Disraeli “lies, damn lies and statistics.”!!!
Simply put, Alli has wasted his talent. Grealish is a burgeoning talent. I am pretty confident if you took a straw poll on this blog whom they would prefer in our line up Alli or Grealish the Villa maestro would win hands down, me thinks. Yes he had an attitude problem and acted irresponsibly during lockdown but what he does on the pitch over 90 mins is much to admire about. Whilst I cannot comment why other clubs did not come in for Grealish in 2018, what I can say we missed out on a golden nugget here!!

When we look at their PL careers to date ,apart from goals to games ratio Dele also comes out on top in assists with 33 ,in just over half the games Jack has 11. Dele now 24 has had an international career including playing at the World Cup & getting 37 full caps,Jack now 25 is just getting in the team and has a five. What has taken so long for Jack to make it,now that he’s playing with kids as young as Jude Bellingham for England, who are also starting their International careers at 17 years of age? The more consistent player who has done more over their careers would be Dele. Why didn’t any big club make an offer to secure Grealish for the amount you believe Levy & Spurs could have signed him for? Nobody else was interested, Grealish was no secret or discovery everyone knew about him,he had played for Ireland & England at most levels, but nobody wanted to take the gamble on him due to his offield behaviour. The penny seems to have dropped albeit a bit late and he is playing great exciting football played the way we want to see it played which makes me think he’s destined like you say to go to Man City where his talents and flair can shine playing David Dilva’s old role.

Leslie fair point but from a consistency perspective of impacting matches who is a better player Alli or Grealish? IMO it ain’t Alli thats for sure!

In defence of the dissapeared Alli, Come back to me when Grealish has scored 50 PL goals Dele did it in 153 games.Quicker than Hazard,Scholes,Beckham & Gerrard. Grealish has only just played over half that amount 79 games and has only scored 14. You brought Dele in to the conversation I didn’t mention him. lol Over & out as you say , catch you later.DD

Franny Lee was playing in my first game I went to at Maine Road alongside Colin Bell & Mike Summerbee. When watching clips of Maradona in the last week football has changed so much over the years that players are very much protected nowadays,Grealish can count himself lucky, but just as much cheating goes on winning free kicks and penalties and going down like they’ve been shot. Watching the Chelsea game with no fan noise it’s unbelievable the screaming that’s done if a player gets touched they should be embarrassed.

Alli also perfected the art but now that he has currently “disappeared” nobody is complaining!!!

Leslie no apologies required. Whilst I fully concur with your sentiments diving is nothing new as Man Citys diver supremo Franny Lee will concur!! (ouch!)

Sorry David if I offended you but I’m old school and hate diving and will call it as I see it. He has been called out for his blatant dive last night and rightly so it’s cheating no matter how you wrap it up or excuses you make,I hate it if our own players do it as well.

I prefer to focus on the positive side of his game rather than your apparent unfair negative critique of a player I don’t immediately select as a regular blatant Alli type offender. Not saying cheating diving is wrong but given the constant chopping down he gets throughout the duration of a match by all opponents surely some degree of latitude is tolerated in the circumstances!!

He will need to work on his diving skill set ,too obvious and outright blatant.

Yes we could have done with him in the side against Chelsea plus our imminent trip to Liverpool!!

Grealish never hides, always hunting for the ball, getting constantly fouled in the process, with goals in his locker, by proactively roaming around the pitch he makes things happen!!

Levy’s opening offer was an insult. I believe it increased to £25m + plus throwing Josh Onomah (who hardly set the world alight during his loan spell at Villa) into the deal as bait which was rejected. Despite their acute financial difficulties before new owners took over, as if the Villa Board were going to sell their prized asset on the cheap! Really?
A deal of £45m or £50m at the time would have been tempting.
Linked to Man City, now Grealish is worth double that figure!!

I must admit, at the time I felt Levy was justified as Grealish last stint in the PL did not scream super star. Now, looking at him, he couldnt be more what we need. I think he is one of the brightest English players around.

For want of repetition ad nauseam the best signing Levy should have made in 2018 is Jack Grealish putting in yet another impressive standout performance last night. Pure class.

Great player in his day, but I think his age is not a time to be making his rookie debut in the PL. He is used to far slower leagues. I think your analysis is spot on.

That said though…I do think if jose can give him room in a deep midfield, his passing range could be a far better choice than playing Winks?
