Tottenham are committed to nurturing its young talent, with Jamie Donley emerging as a standout prospect.
According to Alasdair Gold, the club is contemplating sending Donley out on loan next season to provide him with more first-team experience.
The 19-year-old forward made four appearances for Tottenham’s senior team last season and have been actively involved in training sessions under manager Ange Postecoglou.
Recognising Donley’s potential, Postecoglou has ruled out a permanent sale, opting instead for a loan move to further his development.
Former Spurs assistant coach and current Birmingham City manager Chris Davies is reportedly interested in securing Donley on loan.
Davies, a strong supporter of Donley’s abilities, could play a pivotal role in the next phase of the young forward’s career.
Additionally, newly promoted Championship team Oxford United is keen on acquiring Donley for the upcoming season.
Last season, Donley showcased his talent with Tottenham’s U21 side, scoring eight goals and providing 17 assists in 27 appearances across all competitions, attracting interest from various Championship and League One clubs.
Gold suggests that Postecoglou will make the final decision regarding Donley’s immediate future after evaluating him during the pre-season.
The objective is to secure a loan move that will offer ample playing time and developmental opportunities.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Gold said:
“Talking of attacking players: Jamie Donley. Spurs are not, from my understanding, looking at any potential permanent sale of Jamie Donley but there is a growing feeling that he may head out on loan next season.
Ultimately it’s down to Postecoglou. Postecoglou needs to have another little look at him in pre-season unless a really good offer comes in.
“But from what I understand I would imagine Birmingham are likely to be in the mix there. Chris Davies was a big fan of Jamie. So they’ll be one.
Oxford United very keen as well, Oxford United who are now a Championship team after promotion last season. If they were going to end up being the two I’m sure there’ll be many others.
From my understanding, there’s a load of interest in Championship and League One for him.”
As Tottenham aim to build a strong future, loaning Donley to a club where he can regularly feature in the first team appears to be a strategic move.
This approach will ensure that Donley gains the necessary experience and development to become a key player for Spurs in the years to come.
