Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has offered the latest update on Giovani Lo Celso.
The Argentine has been informed that he is not part of Ange’s plans and is actively looking for a move away.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Lo Celso is eager to secure a transfer before the window closes, following the path of fellow midfielder Oliver Skipp, who is on the verge of joining Leicester City.
Romano has noted that Lo Celso is drawing interest from multiple European clubs, with Aston Villa and Real Betis currently leading the chase.
However, the situation remains open, and other teams could still make a move before the deadline.
Speaking to Daily Briefing, the Italian journalist said:
“Aston Villa and Real Betis are interested but there could be more clubs, it’s an open situation with these two clubs leading the race.
“But it’s really open and there could be surprises. For sure, Lo Celso wants to leave Tottenham and his plan is clear.”
Lo Celso, whose contract runs until June next year, is in his final year with Tottenham.
The club is keen to offload him this summer to avoid the possibility of losing him on a free transfer next year.
Despite showing flashes of his abilities, Lo Celso has struggled to cement his place as a regular starter at Spurs.
Last season, he made just four Premier League starts out of 22 appearances, contributing two goals and two assists.
Lo Celso originally joined Tottenham on loan from Real Betis in 2019, with the move later made permanent.
However, injuries and inconsistent performances have limited his influence at the club.
With the transfer window nearing its end, Spurs are expected to facilitate Lo Celso’s departure, enabling the Argentine midfielder to find more consistent playing time elsewhere while the club continues to refine its squad for the new season.
