There has been a lot of discussion since the dreadful bore draw against Bournemouth last night and pundits have hardly been glowing in their reaction to the team’s performance against the Cherries.
ESPN FC’s Steve Nicol and Shaka Hislop have had their say and as soon as the first question was asked it was noticeable the shaking of heads from the pair even before they gave their reactions.
It has to be said the pair made some very valid points including Nicol stating that there are no partnerships in this side.
Story before the break was how much damage was done by the injuries to Kane, Son and Sissoko and how lucky we were to get a second chance with those players back. Now they’re back we need a new story.
A more than fair assessment about the team and the manager. You know we have no plan because the players are sometimes having 6-7 touches before a pass. There are no overlaps, no blind side runs, no runs in behind. I coach kids 2-3 touch in games because moving the ball quickly puts an opposition under pressure, as Nicol pointed out we don’t even do One Twos! Mourinho was at La Masia, yet he coaches this way because he won a European Cup with Inter in a manner that shoved 2 fingers up at the purists. The man once criticised Santini for parking the bus. Embarrassing.
