‘There are big fans of Harry Kane internally at…’ Another one to watch for Daniel Levy

By Mehdi Gokal -

Fabrizio Romano has dismissed reports linking Harry Kane with a move to Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich.

Georg Holzner who is a reporter for German publication Kicker recently reported that Bayern Munich are eyeing up a move for Tottenham and England captain Harry Kane as a replacement for Robert Lewandowski who is desperate to leave the club this summer.

But Romano insists that despite Bayern Munich’s strong admiration for Kane, Tottenham will not be selling the striker at any cost this summer.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, he said:
“Then guys, to end this video I want to mention Harry Kane. We had rumours about Harry Kane being a potential replacement for Lewandowski at Bayern.

“They are big fans of Harry Kane internally at Bayern, but Harry Kane is not on the market this summer.

“It is impossible for Kane to leave Tottenham because Tottenham wants to keep him and the player is very happy with the new project, with Antonio Conte and Fabio Paratici especially.”

In fact, according to Evening Standard’s report from a couple of months ago, Harry Kane is said to be so happy under Antonio Conte that he is open to holding discussions with the club over a new contract.

He can win it all now with Conte. Fulfilling his ambition at his boyhood club would mean so much more.. If he is going to stay then it will be in his interest financially to sign a contract sooner rather than later because he’ll be wanting a pay rise..
If he wants to go then of course he doesn’t sign and then will hold some leverage. He’s getting older now so his value will continue to drop regardless of a contract.

This is not about the fans. This is about Harry’s ambition for lifetime achievements. If he loses sight of that, then his statements about his ambition to this point have been just words.

Yes, the club is building a chance to challenge for some honorable achievements, but it is still a gamble against the odds at this point.

Harry gambled and lost the last time he signed long-term extensions. He allowed his immediate future to be controlled by a club that pays no mind to Harry’s goals, Harry’s ambitions. A club that changed managers like it was changing bed sheets, leaving the squad flapping in a directionless wind.

One good summer of investment does NOT merit Harry’s gambling on this club again. Harry needs to back himself this time, and sign for the club only once the club begins to accomplish the necessary goals to match Harry’s ambitions. Harry can now force them to put up or shut up, and holds all of the leverage to control his own future within a short time.

The fans should not be much of a factor at this point. Harry has now given years of his life and career to the club and to the fans, and owes them nothing but respectful acknowledgement (if even that.)

If Kane signs a contract before seeing a trophy, then he either lacks the true ambition of which he sometimes speaks, or else he and his agent lack the common sense necessary to carry out fulfilling that ambition.

Under no circumstances should he sign a contract before at least April of next year, if not May. He now holds all of the leverage here, and should not yield any leverage at all to THFC.

If I were Harry, I would want to see far more evidence that Levy is really backing a manager before committing to anything. Levy is a snake, as was said earlier.
