Bryan Gil has not been included in Antonio Conte’s 20-man squad for Tottenham’s Premier League match against Man City.
Recent reports have linked Bryan Gil with a move away from Tottenham this month as the Spaniard seeks more regular playing time to continue his development, which he has not been able to obtain at Spurs. His absence, however, has nothing to do with it.
Recently, Gil has been given more opportunities to play due to injuries to several of Tottenham’s attackers. He has performed well in these opportunities, particularly in the match against Crystal Palace where he was at the centre of every Tottenham attack.
Despite his excellent performance against the London side, Gil was benched in the team’s last game, a 2-0 loss against Arsenal.
And he is not involved at all tonight against Pep Guardiola’s City with Football London reporting that the attacker is out after ‘sustaining a knock in training leading up to the game’.
This leaves Conte with only one attacker on the bench in Richarlison, their record summer signing as Lucas Moura continues to be on the sideline with an injury.
Conte is likely wishing that Gil will recover quickly from his injury, as Tottenham have several significant games approaching. The team will be playing against Fulham at Craven Cottage on Monday and then in the FA Cup against Preston North End next Saturday. These games are important as they will be crucial in determining the team’s performance and progress in the league and cup competitions.
