“The Italian Steve Hitchen” “Tin Pot Mourinho” Many Fans Respond Negatively To One Particular Spurs Update

By The Boy -

Tottenham’s hunt for their next manager has caused a significant amount of discord within the fanbase, as the expectations of fans have been beaten and left bruised by what looks like a club exploring candidates of decreasing value.

Daniel Levy released a video recently, shot in-house, in which he appeared to find the speculation rather curious and off-beam. This message to the fans seemed to be missing a sense of urgency, something which has also dogged Spurs in the past, with some 550 days expiring without a transfer during Mauricio Pochettino’s reign in North London.

The prospect of the former Wolves manager, Nuno Espírito Santo, who was released by the West Midlands side at the end of last season has not gone down too well with many fans, who perhaps understandably trying to match up some of the dearest ticket prices in Europe, and a billion pound plus stadium with what would essentially be a second-string appointment.

Spot on mate.
Hope it is potter he is the best man out of the few left and probably a better pick than some who have turned it down .
Will get the team to play as a team ,get them actually fit ,knows the lower league starlets which are in our budget and in all honesty like most normal people understands where spurs are and levy is a twat.
Thing is will he take the bait? A no budget ,total refresh ?? Nob of a boss bait ,,oh the prestige of Spurs😁.
Thanks levy/enic.

Why on earth would Bielsa want to leave an energetic team moulded in his style and on the up to come to a lazy bunch on the way down?

If Mason is appointed the wages bill will drop significantly. Most decent players will want out asap.

Yeah I know, over budget and the team playing in it have gone to pot. What has he done exactly other than f*cjk things up? He gets a 2m bonus for that?

HH, it wouldn’t surprise me if the real reason for the delay in appointing a new manager was as banal as Levy trying to save having to pay an extra couple of months salary during a period of negative cash flows. I’ve seen sole proprietorships run like this but not top flight football clubs. Penny wise pound foolish. Then again why stack the wages bill with Paratici? Perhaps Paratici will soon discover after he has shifted the deadwood, his services as “Managing Director” of football will no longer be required. His title should really be Master of Deadwood: the extractor of blood from the stone. In my mind the only plausible explanation for hiring Paratici that is consistent with Levy’s MO is that Levy believes Paratici can sell the deadwood to unsuspecting Italian mid table clubs as Levy has burnt his bridges with most respectable purchasing clubs. This is plausible because it generates short term cash flow for the club, the only thing Levy cares about right now. Although, I wouldn’t be surprised of Levy micromanages any deals Paratici initiates and screws these up chasing the last shekel leaving the deadwood players to run down their contracts. Of course this will be all self inflicted pain, and Levy, despite all warnings and recent history of this tactic failing, and because of his lack of self awareness, will not be able to help himself. It will be sad watching this slow train wreck play out. P.S. I think it will be Graham Potter as next manager because and only because he is cheapest name on the list and he will be content with pulling in academy players into the first team. He isn’t the worst candidate and in theory money is probably better spent on new defenders and a creative midfield player than on a new manager but any money saved from being cheap will be used to fund operating losses, it won’t be reinvested.

A lot is made of Paratici bringing in Ronaldo, but seriously, does anyone think it was his skills as a DOF that made that happen or someone who owns the club saying that they want him and will pay him whatever he wants. Which is pretty much what happened, so the Ronaldo thing had little to do with his importance in that role.

Levy has brought in a DOF to create a ‘fire-break’ between himself and the football side of things, I mean a fire-break from criticism. To give the impression that A; He has some kind of strategy and B; That when things don’t work out on the pitch he can blame the incompetent football people around him. He’s employed another DOF for the same reason why our next manager will be something like our 15th in 22 years under his expert control… He’s just full of sh*t.

I guess if you squint at the books just right, you won’t notice that incompetent little clown ran the stadium build to about 50% over budget. That kind of job performance would get you and I fired before the project even finished. Then he had the gall to pay himself a completion bonus! You can’t make this #*@% up.

I remain baffled how both Gasperini and Galtier are not part of the conversation. Both are vastly superior to the reject dreck we’ve been pursuing in Fonseca, Gattuso, and Nuno. Ten Hag was an obvious fit, yet couldn’t wait to extend his Ajax deal in what was a big eff you to the humourless little bald property developer.

I’d just try to get Bielsa in for a season or two until Poch came back. Same approach, so you’d get continuity at least. I think Bielsa would be great fun, if we ain’t winning nuffink we might as well go swashbuckling and we might even win a cup.

I’m out of ideas… 😂

We’ve supposedly talked to Conte, Fonseca, Rodgers, Poch, Potter, Benitez, Gattuso and probably continue to talk to dozens more. Now we supposedly have the best stadium in England, incredible training facilities (that keep producing injured and unfit players), we’re in the Deloitte top 10 – and we’re probably appointing Nuno.

Not that I have anything against the man – he did very well for three years with Wolves before he lost Jimenez and Jota last year – but it seems like an utter anticlimax and not like a manager that should be appointed by a side of our supposed standing. (Also, where’s the Spurs DNA?) Then again, we didn’t back and fired Mourinho, so we can’t be all that picky. I will support him and hope for the best, if he does get the job.

We’ve been without a permanent manager since we sacked a serial trophy winner 6 days before a cup final. If the bloody Supporters’ Trust actually bothered to listen to and represent the fans, now (and for the last two months) would be the time to turn up the heat on Levy. Massively. Instead, they treat us to some weird, delusional, bullsh-t Manifesto that is only relevant in the heads of the three or four fools who concocted it. Unbelievable.

This situation is up there with the year and a half of not signing anyone. Criminal negligence which we mustn’t forget moving on.

Yeah I can see this happening.
Lets be honest, the longer it takes to get a manager, the less manager wages levy has to pay.
He is also probably looking for an international manager at the euro’s. One that fails and gets the sack but is available on the cheap.

Yes, I suggested that in an earlier blog that he could deliberately be delaying getting in a manager so there was not enough time to bring in new players. There are few depths, as we know, that our odious CEO won’t sink to.

A season ago I would have been keen on Nuno as really enjoyed seeing Wolves rise up to challenge the bigger boys. Wheels only seemed to come off with the terrible injury to Jiminez and loss of Jota (and Doherty, haha) so guess he hasn’t suddenly become a bad manager. Would prefer the attacking style of Potter though and the hope that he’d play more youngsters and not fill the team with Portuguese.

If the game strategy going forward is to run around a lot, get forward and defend occasionally (daring do) then I posit that we don’t even need a manager- just have a sprint before the game and put the 11 fastest blokes out there.

You left Fonseca off the list of managers Paratici allegedly wanted, not very inspiring. Intersting comments you have made on Paratici. I wrote something similar some weeks ago but without your detail. I mentioned that de Ligt at €75 mill has not been an unqualified success. He won’t be signing any player of that value for Spurs.

DNA was a throw away comment to shut fans up at the time of binning Jose by Mason and Levy.
And you’ll never be able to judge Paratici as Levy will always micro manage, so he will just be the patsy for the mob.

I’m getting more and more anxious about Paratici? Did our new DoF not read Levy’s State of the Union address or did he had no idea what our DNA and identity are? His last two choices Nuno and Gattuso, as coaches are anything but the Spurs DNA.

And then there’s the issue of Gattuso as a person, it’s being widely reported that Paratici has been a big fan of Gattuso and wanted him at Juve. Now I’m firmly of the opinion that we should measured against our past, not judged. What Gattuso is today should matter infinitely more than what he was 8-13 years ago. That being said, surely someone from Spurs or Paratici’s team must’ve made him aware of Gattuso’s past comments? If not, then this is pretty incompetent of this setup. If he was aware and decided to ignore it then that’s equally concerning. I mean maybe (and no disrespect meant) this shit would be ignored in Italy but did he actually thought that the UK fans and media would let this fly?

Which brings me to Paratici’s record as a DoF. Much has been made about his “accomplishments” at Juve. But most of those feats came before October 31, 2018. That’s when Paratici’s boss Beppe Marotta left Juve. Since then, Juve has hired Sarri despite him clearly not being a good fit only to sack him after winning the Scudetto. Then they gave the job to Pirlo, whose managerial experience could be measured in weeks not years and sacked him after a year of bad football and atrocious results. And now apparently if Real Madrid hadn’t taken their sweet time making an offer to Allegri, Juve could’ve actually hired Gattuso. I mean seriously… WTF???

Meanwhile, Marotta joined Inter on October 2018 and hired Conte next season. Inter were tight financially but when Conte publically declared he wanted nothing to do with their two best players (Icardi and Nainggolan), Marotta actually indulged him and shipped them both out at a loss of nearly 40% of their market value. Then he got Conte the striker he wanted even if meant paying 75mil for a player with inconsistent form and a dodgy season just behind him. But Marotta wasn’t always the weak boss who’d always be walked over. He thought that Erickson would improve the Inter side so he overruled Conte and got Erickson for Inter. And after a year of pouting and shunning Erickson, Conte finally gave in and Erickson played a vital role in the second half of the campaign for Inter. The result, Inter reached the final of Europa League last season and won the league this season.

So between Paratici and Marotta, who was responsible for the good times at Juve?

Maybe this time it will be different, maybe Spurs will stumble upon a decent manager because(despite) of Paratici. I just hope that Paratici is better at identifying players than managers and that the last 2 years(without Marotta) in his career are just a blip.

I think maybe he was bullied at school and this might explain his behaviour whereby he is in permanent denial and fails to even contemplate the fact that he is utterly wrong. It’s almost a case of him against the world. Maybe he sees this behaviour as some sort of revenge or something?

Levy appears to have become delusional. I have always thought that he was bordering on Aspergers. He cannot relate to people and seems to be completely unaware of how the fans feel. There always seems to be a vague smirk on his face when he is interviewed which is most unbecoming.

It’s no coincidence that Spurs are still searching for their next manager, Levy being Levy is dragging it out as far as possible leaving it so that there will be very little time for anyone to spend any money in the transfer market. We could of had many a manager in place by now, not only that he brings in Paratici as to completely take the heat off of himself, after all this time, if we end up with some tin pot, two bob manager Levy will make sure that Paratici takes the blame. Levy, Lewis and ENIC have to go, no more chances, 20 years of this is way too long.

That Levy failing to answer his own questions malarkey was bizarre to say the least. One is tempted into comparisons with Hitler toddling along a line of 9 year old boys armed with panzerfausts whom he believes are about to repel hundreds of thousands of crack Russian troops from destroying Berlin. He is also in fantasy land – “problem – what problem?”
