The Happier Jan Vertonghen Moment You Might’ve Missed From Saints Win [Video]

By Joe Fish -

We’ve all see THAT Jan Vertonghen moment from last night.

You know the one I mean. The one which after watching you sneak into the toilet and share a few tears for one of our great players of the last decade.

If you are still reeling from the Belgian’s walk of shame, then this video might cheer you up. It is Vertonghen’s reaction to Lucas Moura’s equaliser at 2-2 – a complicated combination of passion, frustration and relief.

While this season’s version of Vertonghen may be a ghost of the one we fell in love with, this footage shows that he will always be one of us. I mean, what mixture of emotions could better describe our weekly ordeal?

Son Heung-min’s late penalty sent us into the last 16 of the FA Cup, so a Spurs career that is clearly coming to an end, could yet end with a trophy.

I hope Jan is given an extension. He is on the wane but will still be peerless against some of the PL fodder. He’s still good for 20 odd games a season.

What a great guy, what a player he’s been. remember Poch had fitness concerns with him earlier too. Maybe he will gradually regain some of his mobility, it was just last year he was tearing it up at left wing back. Maybe he will learn to adapt and play without pace, there have been some great ageing central defenders that just used their experience to martial the line. I hope there’s life left in those legs yet. His experience, loyalty and obvious passion could still be a massive factor for us in some tight games.
Either way, it is great to see the whole squad celebrate, whether they’ve been taken off, left out etc

Super Jan, we love you .
