Summer signing ‘loving’ the ‘eye-opening’ experience of playing with Tottenham star

By Saikat -

Tottenham Hotspur winger Brennan Johnson has heaped praise on his teammate Son Heung-min for his performances this season.

Johnson has revealed that he is loving the opportunity to play alongside the likes of the South Korean international. He feels that Son is a very good player and playing with the 31-year-old has benefited him.

Johnson said to Football London: “I’m loving it – having players that achieved so much is so eye-opening and a confidence boost.

“For me, it’s only a benefit, Sonny being the main one as he is such a good player and has done so much. I play for the side but there are lots of bits to pick up on such as finishing and movement. There are similarities and differences to learn, for now I’m just learning as much as I can.”

The 31-year-old Spurs attacker has carried the goalscoring burden this season after the departure of Harry Kane. Son has eight goals and an assist to his name in 13 Premier League matches and the North London club have been heavily dependent on him for goals.

It is evident that the South Korean international needs more support in the attack and it will be interesting to see if Tottenham decide to bring in a striker during the January transfer window.

Initially, they decided not to sign a replacement for Kane who left the club at the start of the season. Richarlison was expected to step up and fill the void left by the England international, but the Brazilian has been largely underwhelming and he is currently sidelined with an injury.

There is no doubt that Son is a world-class player on his day and the fans will be delighted with his performances so far. However, Tottenham will need more depth and quality in their squad if they want to compete for major trophies.
