Striker linked with Tottenham has been given the go ahead to leave his club

By Bruce Grove -

The Daily Mail reports that Watford has decided to allow their captain and Tottenham target, Troy Deeney to leave this summer.

The Englishman has been an important part of the Hornets since he joined them a decade ago.

Although they haven’t been a top side during their time in the Premier League, they did have some impressive players while they were in the English top flight.

They will have to prepare for their players being wanted by teams who are still competing in the top of the English football pyramid and Deeney is one star they know that they will likely lose.

Tottenham has been looking for a backup striker in this transfer window as Jose Mourinho looks to have another goalscorer in the team apart from Harry Kane.

The Lilywhites have been linked with a move for several strikers in this transfer window, but the likes of Callum Wilson and Victor Osimhen have already joined other teams.

Deeney has now emerged as a target for the north London side and the report claims that Watford is prepared to sell the 32-year-old if any team offers the right price for him.

At 32 Deeney will probably jump at the chance of playing for a team that competes in Europe, that should make this transfer fairly easy to complete.

I wouldn’t have had Troy down as the one who jumped ship from Watford when the s##t hit the fan,and they needed him more than ever. Kiss the badge every week and then kiss goodbye when they get relegated. He should be staying loyal to his club and helping them get promotion,we don’t need mercenaries.

Dear god, we really are scraping the barrel if we go for him, miss the days when we bought players like Klinsmann, ardiles and ginola.

Why a 32yr old rather than a 20yr old, other than money. SMFH!

Ironic really. If Villa had of gone down instead of Watford , we’d be looking at buying Grealish instead of that dinosaur.

If we buy him and Kane is injured again, he’ll be able to say hello to his old team mates next season as we’ll probably be joining them!
