This match was a great preseason friendly by any standards, if anything it only served to underline that Tottenham’s first-team players that were involved look remarkably like the same surplus to requirement characters that we’ve been witnessing in slow and undebatable decline for several years.
Anyone seeking to bleat that it was ‘only a meaningless friendly’ might want to tell Nuno that, as clearly Dane Scarlett’s meant a lot to him and his team. The Orient goal was extremely well executed and appeared to utterly confuse the Spurs bench.
For me, there was a sparse difference with the side which contained a smattering of allegedly ‘top-flight’ players and the lower league outfit. Beyond Lucas Moura’s assist, a draw was an extremely fair final score.
Some fans were ‘happy enough’ with the spectacle, which is their privilege. However, there were more who felt that Spurs had given us a glimpse of what we have to come – a very long season.
If Santos thinks the next few games are tough, then he really needs to buckle up.
Might even win a trophy lol.
Not surprising really, they’ve burnt their bridges.
Just imagined it😭😭😭
Every single post made by the club’s social media team is greeted with abuse
This.
Of the other 10 richest clubs in world, how many end up employing their eighth choice first team coach?
Levy has turned us from an old English club with a proud history and tradition into a bland, homogenised corporate brand with a huge retail space/NFL facility, In which that club are now merely tenants.
All of that given up for actually going backwards on the pitch. Who in their right mind can condone this?
You’re spot on. It is a constant stream of lies and deceit dressed up as some overarching intention to ‘safeguard’ the future of the club.
You’re right mate, it’s one massive con and Levy is the con-man in-chief.
Complete b*stards…
Dele has lost form period. He is no longer the player he was. He seems lethargic and lacking in confidence. In all seriousness I think he needs to drop a league.
Enic have lost their credibility with just about all Spurs fans. They have done their utmost to spin us with false promises, no actually lies thinking about it, and jam tomorrow pledges that never materialise. They have perpetuated this con for so long that they have alienated everybody, even their supporters of a few months ago. I cannot for the life of me see what this gains them in the long run. They are digging a hole for themselves that just gets deeper and deeper. It’s up to us to stop financially backing them.
Would you continue to reward a conman who promised you the earth down the line a few years, in return for regular payments even though returns are not there in the present or indeed for the last decade, whilst he invested it on your behalf? Even though he showed you the swanky new office his company had just built and all the top notch equipment in it. Of course you wouldn’t, you’d tell him to go and do one. This is ENIC and their smiling assassin of a chairman Levy.
Shameful levels of neglect by our owners. They run what was a very decent squad (one with a bright future) completely into the ground, leaving them lacking motivation direction and identity.
We were told three three years ago by Donna Cullen that promoting Amos and Skipp would mean we didn’t need to enter the transfer market. Since then we also went over a year with no signings at all.
All of the above shows that doing things on the cheap is the number one priority, not creating a competitive, winning culture.
They might still be the owners, but Levy/ENIC are now pretty much dead to the vast majority of the supporters. A situation that they will never be able to claw back in my opinion.
23 years of false dawns, zero trophies, countless managers and DOF combinations has led us to one conclusion. Enough is enough…
So you think Nuno will be pleased with a draw bearing in mind they made changes as well.
It’s good to be different King
Haha
Bergwjin has disappointed me tbh. Not up the standard required for our league. Possibly another Janssen.
At least if we went down we could celebrate coming up,,hopefully…
Yeah that is a very good point .
Levy does not read this space. Lol Sure if he did we would have a new chairman like 6 years ago, and still be at the old lane.
Really. You think Nuno and his back roo. Staff was up watching video oe Orient mapping out how slap a five spot on them. Oh goodness, these comments are 20 games into the season. Lordie!!!
From providing nearly half the England team to this. The decline needs to be halted and halted now.
For some inexplicable reason I watched the whole game. I keep reading that Dele is in great shape yet he barely moved and was easily dispossessed of the rock numerous times. We’re looking like a lower tier mid table team this season gents- hopefully we can stay out of the relegation battle.
What did Paratici said. Does the man even speak? Just curious where you got that nugget. Post the sources please.
Spot on.
Stevie B is not of the required quality to improve Spurs. Yet another low grade punt by Daniel,
I think that lifting the mood of a squad that Levy has chosen to neglect for the best part of four years is a difficult task to perform. The only way will be from decent transfer churn. Nowhere to hide baldy…
I can’t believe CCV is still at the club, what’s the f*cking point? It’s so pathetic…
Watched a bit of the team turning up and bits of match on one of the ENIC backed you tubers channels. Lots of “Dane Scarletts gonna be a star” etc…
Really horrible body language, Dele and some others looked dejected, like they would rather be ANYwhere other than where they were. Did not look good at all. We know footballs an inconvenience to Levy, but when it’s an inconvenience to the players, well…problems…
Interesting to see a mindset shift in quite a few supporters. Usually, most people wouldn’t care, as it was our first game back and heavily featured youth players, but the goodwill towards the regime and certain evergreen disappointments – like Dier, Dele and Winks – has eroded to such an extent that Spurs are now lambasted even after friendlies.
What did we learn? That the youngsters playing today won’t get much of a sniff in competitive games (maybe Scarlett will by default after we sell Kane and inevitably fail to secure a replacement), and the senior players bar Lucas with his assist couldn’t do a thing against fourth-tier opposition.
Exciting times ahead under the 7th or 8th choice manager!
Exactly. First match under new boss. Should be all guns blazing friendly or not. “I want to be in the plans” type statements.
King Paul – its started again, after 20 years we are here again…youth players that aren’t that good, one of them CCV has had 7 pre seasons and Levy either can’t sell him or is holding on for dear life…our first team wannabees looked terrible, most the kids looked like division 1 players…what is it we are supposed to be “proud of”….quoting our new manager….some of these players are playing for their life’s, but to you it meant nothing!!
Didn’t you hear? It was hot and we played 195 youth players (or, as the commander-in-chief would say, 195 40M players), so the game doesn’t really count.
Scarlett and the right back kiddy looked ok for potential..the rest did themselfs no favours…
King Paul you should change your name to the Joker as I couldn’t stop laughing at your comment. No wonder levy keeps treating spurs fans like crap. Keep defending our rubbish.
Dele is done..he will have moments of magic, but that will be 3 times a season and that’s why Levy will want 40m for him….Stevy is reallly disappointing…Winks struggled against players that are worth 150k each….Dier looked fit, but can’t see him losing his daft moments..
1-1 against a team in the League Two, the fourth tier of the English football league system. Rome win 10-0 against a similar team in Italy…..mmmm I wonder who is there defence minded manager.
did you watch it…did you….watching Winks and Deli struggle against a pub team is embarrassing..actually, some of the kids did ok in the first half, the 2nd half was like “watching Spurs try”……which in past time used to mean “watching paint dry”…
😨
Just imagine us going away to City 4-4-2 with Scarlett and Parrott up top, Winks-Sissoko in the middle.
Mouthwatering.
Sure, let’s give Dele, Dier and Winks another chance. 7th time lucky, eh?
It’s all looking good then eh?
*Rain man voice….”excellent facilities.. got excellent facilities…”
The two players who stood out but for the wrong reasons were Dele and Bergwjin.
but that’s the point we have been fortunate through jol and poch to have our expectations lifted but ultimately the anchor drags us back under and we are forced to wait for us to take another breathe of hope for a few seasons however I see no point in dwelling in the deep,
patrici seems another mouth piece for levy and a deflection of blame bit hopefully I’m wrong.
I just hope if levy messes up another window ok when he does, Nuno has pride to play youngsters in positions if they weren’t it and not fall into the trap levy sets
By the way I like your website good stuff and heartfelt comments ty
To play for Spurs is an honour! Who knows how many of these a rings actually appreciate that? When we see chance by chance to win something waste away it sums up what supporting Spurs has been for me and others for the last 30 years. Squad after squad, the teams always lose discipline.
Usual Spurs goal concession, with assists from our midfield. Another worldy goal for the opposition – why because we back off and make it easy for them to get their shot away. Different manager, different set of players but EXACTLY the same problems, even in a friendly against a lower level team.
or alternatively it could be a game the fringe players and the youngster give it everything to show Nuno they should be in his thoughts and players like Alli who supposedly has been training all summer to get ready for the season and not partying on some beach can show his commitment and qualities to the manager and prove he is worthy of a squad number. Some people’s friendly on a baking summers day or a glorified training session is some players shot at promotion to the first team. Players need to take every opportunity they are given as we all know they dont come along often. With your take on it, i’m surprised they didnt come on with ice cream at half time lol. The drivel that the spurs team have been producing especially some of the seasoned senior players over the last few seasons need as much training and they possibly can get hot day or not
Rantings of idiots. A glorified fitness session on a baking hot day where the entire team was subbed en masse. Only an utter gibbon would judge players’ abilities on this evidence
