The magic of the FA cup, they said. Come to the Riverside stadium they said. Jose Mourinho will undoubtedly be hoping that this afternoon’s pursuit of domestic silverware can add, and not detract to the mood at Tottenham Hotspur Football Club.
Spurs fans (at least) will be reunited with Jonathan Woodgate, whose memorable ball-to-face type header won us our last piece of silverware, the League cup back in 2008.
Woody said of Jose,”[Mourinho] is an exceptional manager who’s won everything in the game so it will be good to pit my wits against him.”
Spurs XI Gazzaniga, Aurier, Dier, Alderweireld, Vertonghen (C), Sessegnon, Winks, Eriksen, Lucas, Dele, Son.
Domestic cups are Jose’s thing. The 56-year-old has won the League Cup in 2005, 2007 and 2015 at Chelsea and the FA Cup in 2007, and he also reached the final of this competition with Manchester United in 2018.
Prediction: BTTS @21/10.
Parrot bangs them in for ireland… Good enough for international level if he can play for his country then surely hes good enough for boro.. How will he ever become more than ‘incredibly inexperienced’ if we dont ever play him? He should be played, or loaned out.
Speed or lack of , its a strong line up , its down to attitude and application . Just don’t start by fannying around and looking at each other with your mouths open , for the love of Christ.
According to the above stats Jose has won one FA Cup, that surprises me, I thought he’d won it three or four times. That team selection, very short of pace all over the field. Playing Tanganga would make no difference to the defence, our defensive problems begin with no pressure on the ball in the forward line and midfield. If we win it will be down to moments of individual magic from Son or Dele.
Because they are incredibly inexperienced and unlike Poch in domestic cups, Jose has gone with the strongest team available? Playing the kids against Colchester worked well didnt it??
Tanganga should be playing, our defence at the moment can’t keep a clean sheet so why not give a youth player a chance to show that they can step up….no doubt this will be another stressful game with one goal in it and players like Parrott getting 3 mins at the end…..
Just seen the team announced, looks like we planning on playing without a forward, so appears plan is to pass sideways until Boro fall asleep then Son to run length of pitch. I am hoping for an early healthy lead to give some kids a game.
Realistically though, Jose is not famed for youth development… He is for winning pots though, so perhaps GIVING youth a chance isn’t what should happen, they should earn it.
Totally unimpressed with the team selection why the likes of Troy Parrott and that Tassiniga chappy are not playing.
