The race for a top-four spot took another twist as Tottenham Hotspur completed a 4-0 rout of Aston Villa last weekend to make them favourites for the last Champions League place.
Boss Antonio Conte has now taken the third-most points in the league behind Liverpool and Manchester City since his appointment after seeing his side score at least twice in seven consecutive Premier League games, a feat they’ve only once bettered back in 2011…
Can Spurs secure Champions League football? And if they do, will Matt Doherty be the club’s poster boy for the tournament?
brighton played very well and set up against us perfect ,to add we couldnt string 4 passes together ,,like watching pinball at times.
Yes and in true seagull fashion they shat all over us.
Well well well I am in shock.
Missed the game (had to do an airport run) and just checked the score and the ratings.
It seems Hojbjerg was the pick of the bunch and cement feet (The Rock) gave some chap too much room for the goal and wee Stevie blazed wide again….we are on repeat here.
Our front 3 were on fire before today wtf happened?
Brighton set up perfectly against us and we lacked any quality from the wing backs/midfield to draw a mistake out of them. We had a few half chances, two against Sideshow Bob; Hojbjerg sat him down and Moura glided past him, but we lacked quality in the final ball. A better pass and movement might have given us an outcome we could stomach. Bergwijn, who has obviously borrowed Ndom’s KFC loyalty card, looked like an amateur footballer with his volley.
I think I am now had my fill of Reggie. He just is not good enough, not for a team that should be competing in the top 4 and possibly getting silverware (Granted the latter is totally missing in our realm) and this is where I want Spurs to be. He’s been with us long enough to start performing but he is just a bit ‘meh’.
When Romero makes a mistake it tends to be calamitous. They never really troubled us (they set up not to lose) and so we had to concentrate throughout. The audition was well and truly failed.
It is results like this that put a bit of perspective to our position. We are not good enough, but because other teams have allowed us to be involved we are where we are. We are not good enough for Ch Lg football, but we are not going to turn it down if offered to us are we?
I just wish Arsenal, Utd, Leicester and West Ham didn’t fall apart and offer us the hope. After all, it is the hope that kills you!
In other news, Hastings United have already won promotion.
Congratulations to the Us. Isthmian Premier League here we come!
Agreed
Just what Arse*** needed to spur them on. And these matches are just the sort of thing which show why any run in any cup will at some point hit the stumbling block of inconsistency.
2 good wingbacks & a top creative midfielder/free kick specialist is the minimum if we’re to do anything significant next season.
Top 4 is wide open.
Joking….
Aaaaaand back down to earth
Potter’s seagulls have had Conte’s Spuds wrapped up all afternoon.
Totally deserved.
Our top bench to save the day…
Can’t string 4 passes together ,what is going on?
Cheers.
Very even from what I’ve seen so far.
Cr*p. We are asleep. Lots of yellow cards are the most exciting things so far.
Missed first half how was it?
