If you watch Poch’s press conference I think that his thinly veiled diatribe is highly revealing.
He is happy to acknowledge that the current project has been successfully concluded, however he is at pains to point out that Spurs are now a ‘big club’ and that the quality of the stadium and training ground demand that the club start to think and act in a way befitting of the stature they have created for themselves. Very hard to disagree with that assessment.
So the question now is this. The chronic under-investment in the squad, as exemplified by the recent on-field implosion, is all too painfully evident.
The lack of competition for places has bred complacency and I absolutely concur that this team has gone as far as it is going to go in terms of ‘achievement’, with its current personnel. It needs radical surgery, which is going to cost money, a lot of money.
How much is Levy and more importantly Lewis willing to back Poch to achieve his vision of the future?
Re-investing the money from the almost inevitable sale of Christian Eriksen and more regrettably Toby Aldeweireld, is not going to cut it. Even if that generated 100,000 million pounds plus, as it would, it needs another 150,000 million on top of that to really shape a dynamic, and revitalised new squad for the future.
Four world class young players, in positions of need, would send out a huge message to our rivals, would back Poch to the hilt and would totally energise the fan base and build on the positivity and good will created by the new stadium.
That is what should happen. Will it? I highly doubt it. My gut feeling is that Lewis and Levy will try and do just enough to keep Poch on board, maintain our Champions League status and spend as little as possible above the monies garnered from player sales to do that.
It is a business model which in its essence prioritises return on investment over winning and highly regrettably I don’t see it changing.
Add in the financially illiterate anti semitic cunt!
But it seems to me that there is only going to be a soft Brexit ie Brexit in name only, so doubt that taxes will come down.
Before he turned up I should say.
Chairman Steptoe
Taxes will go down after Brexit. Unless you lot change government to the anti semitic cunt.
and Sissoko is Manuel, perhaps!
We coulda had him for £40M an age ago, when we were lowballing other quality players.
Yet we were a big, trophy winning club before he levelled our home. Part of the big 5 as they called it. He erases history with his balderdash. Extend a stand to make 45’000 That’s ample.
Live feed finished.
One long love letter to himself. As opposed to one long Linda Lovelace to myself.
Brexit hasn’t effected anything. It’s shameless stuff.
Poch and Levy are like a pair of prattling long term marrieds. All this thinly veiled passive-aggressive ‘Big Club’ nonsense, designed to dig out Levy. All very Basil and Sybil like isn’t it…

3 hours worth!
Yet more:
“You simply cannot be a big club with a 36,000-seater stadium.”
There you have it, encapsulating everything about Levy’s belief system. A big club generates a large bottom line. Nothing about glory, trophies, winning.
Daniel – a big club WINS THINGS. Regularly. And invests their money in the pursuit of WINNING THINGS.
I’d bid for Hazard after Chelsea fail to make top 4, and pay him double Kanes salary. Never happen in a million years, but it is the level of replacement we need.
Haha!
Cheap.
The sure do, I remember when Ajax moved into their state of the art stadium back in the day. Their form dipped considerably. I’m very worried how this move will pan out over the next few months.
Haaaa!
They were saying on the radio most clubs going into new stadiums have bad records to start with such as Southampton, City, Spam etc….fingers crossed we smash Palace…
You’re being racist hehehe.
If Sterling gets 20 nearly plus the 10 open goals he misses a season Kane will probably get 100.
Its clear they are on board the P.R boat for Lewis and Levy. Going overboard.😵
I’d settle for….McGinn, Lozano, Sandro Tonali, Akanji, Skov, Wan Bissaka, Milan Skriniar…..
That’s what a big club would do…as Poch says that’s how we have to think now.
As if haaaaahahaaa!!
‘GOT MERCH?!’
Praise be
In that City team he would get 50 goals a year.
Your auto-correct does you a misservice H, its swapped in an ‘L’ instead of an ‘N’ in Cult…seriously i think you need to give long term contributors the autonomy to instantly ban any Levy glad handers on here. Deluded clowns.
Interesting you mention City.Pep could release Aguero on a high after winning the league and they take Harry.Gabriel Jesus is not their answer.
Sadly for us that is so true and Poch knows it.
Am I wrong? He would probably read it and go “£200m for a midfield…I can do it for £20m”
I say leave. He will go.
Would you blame Kane if he looked at the situation and decided its best for him to leave? I wouldn’t personally. I would even understand him choosing City.
So many Levy Bon Mots and a Mea Culpa of his ineptitude:
“With the economic climate as it was, pre-Brexit, no construction company would commit to a fixed price for the stadium build,”
&
“Anyone who has had anything to do with construction knows that things are always late finishing and always cost more and that’s exactly what we’ve experienced”
The folks that stand up for the ENIC project sound like members of a religious cult.
At a rough guess, £87.14 a week 🤣

Given that we will be losing 3 CL grade players we need a bare minimum of 4 top class player. Of course what we will get is a summer of names such as Maddison, Grealish and Bowden and Poch will have to convert Foyth into a defensive midfielder and champion it like a new signing.
There is an article on bbc/football about living in the shadow of the new ground.Makes interesting reading.
Just read the chairman’s statement. It’s a good read and I think highlights all of the positive aspects of the new ground. There’s one thing missing tough: not a single mention anywhere re impetus for on-field investment, success, trophies…pfff
Clive Allen again on the radio trying to convince everyone the new stadium is breathtaking and magnificent and taken the spirit of WHL with it and repeats it is above all “A football stadium” …..despite it being anything but and official statements already come out calling it an NFL stadium. Why are these Spurs legends sullying their legacy’s by shilling for the ENIC scum?
I fully agree; the painful thing is that all of the above are things every man, woman, cat and dog have known for the past few years.
The stadium is great and the training facilities first-class (albeit I’m yet to see any evidence of the greatness of youth being introduced any time soon).
However, as we all know, the best method of raking in the cash, raising the club profile, getting the very best sponsorship, attracting quality players and new fans, is of course to win things. The hollow ring of ‘we qualified for the CL again’ isn’t exciting and it will only keep the likes of Kane around for so long. Indeed, it appears Eriksen, Toby and probably Verts have now seen enough.
Amid all the back-slapping going on at the club, we all are acutely aware that we have a squad that is creaking, some unhappy players, a manager who has looked rather resigned in recent times, and a stadium that is, what, double the initial cost? At the moment the football philosophy has more holes in it than the stuff being sold in the Cheese room. Levy/Enic need to stop stinking out the place and refocus on the priorities.
Don’t get me wrong, it’s great that we finally have a world class stadium. It’s just that like many of you, I have the sneeking suspicion that it may come at the cost of team progression. I really hope not.
On a positive note; I hope we stuff palace tonight, and with Huddersfield in town next, we might be able to put a few points between us and the pack. If we can finish top four, retain most of our best players, reinvigorate Poch’s enthusiasm and actually invest in 3-4 quality players we may just start moving in the right direction again.
That seems to be the business plan tho, hope that everyone else stands still
I’d say at least 4 world class players. The positions of need were there last summer and they’ve only increased in number this year. In an ideal world we need a new goalkeeper, Toby replacement-if/when he leaves, right back, left back, two centre midfielders, Erickson replacement and upgrades on all of Lamela, Moura and Llorente.
Reality: Grealish, Mitrovic and a 22 year old ligue 1 winger (insert any name) with 2 assists and 1 goal to his name this season
If Levy was to read what you wrote he would shit himself.
What’s more to the point what do our scouts do?
I would love to be a Spurs scout… “shit, its May already…erm…there is no one in the world better than Sissoko mate…” – “Phew, job done until December”
Yeh but,ENIC paid for everything!
It points to one thing……bye bye Kane.
We should have had at least one top player over two transfer windows. I still don’t understand how wolves seem to have signed some exciting young players and Mouthinio,a very experienced midfielder.
What do our coaches do?. I still think we will miss out on top four,we need to win tonight, draw is no good.
Favourite has to be the last stat…I imagine there are more plastic straws than there will be trophies any day soon.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/av/football/47800348
Personal view, assuming we could keep who we wanted, I would say:
GK – Lloris is shot, gazzinga is not the answer. – new keeper £30m?
CB – Toby and jan with Foyth, Sanchez, davies and Dier is good enough
Full backs – 4 needed, at least 2 starters. Cost would be close £80m
Central mid – Dier and Winks ok for cover, Eriksen is hot and cold. We need 3 players here – cost £200m (at least)
Attacking team – Alli ok, Son is great, Kane is well…Kane. We need cover for Kane, another wing forward style player too – cost £100m
So assuming we lose no-one we want to keep we need to be spending £400m ish. Then hoping “youth” can fill the reserve or 3rd reserve spots.
We are likely to lose Toby, Christian and Jan (if not this summer then next) we would need at least £175-200m just to stand still. So add that to the £400m above and we are talking about an amount that makes the stadium look cheap. 2 yrs ago we only needed to spend what we usually spend but on 1 or 2 players, now we are talking about a full rebuild and this all assumes the teams around us stand still.
So the chairman has admitted “its around the 1b mark” yet fans still refuse to believe it from the horses mouth…they must know something we don’t….jeeze..
