Spurs move for 27-year-old defender now in ‘danger’ due to uncertainty around Conte’s future

Talks between Tottenham and Barcelona defender Clement Lenglet have hit a roadblock, leaving the Frenchman’s future at the North London club in doubt.

According to the latest report by The Sport (via Sport Witness), Barcelona are concerned that Lenglet’s permanent move to Tottenham could be in “danger” due to the uncertainty around Antonio Conte’s future at the club.

Lenglet joined Tottenham on loan from Barcelona as a temporary solution after the club failed to secure any of their primary targets.

Despite having no obligation to buy clause in his loan contract, Barcelona were hoping to secure a deal and receive at least €18m for the defender, who is not in their future plans, as stated in the report.

With the hopes of a permanent move to Tottenham up in the air, Barcelona will be hoping for interest from other clubs to offload Lenglet’s services.

Meanwhile, Tottenham’s hunt for a top-class center-back will continue in the summer, with the club linked to the likes of Josko Gvardiol, Alessandro Bastoni, and Piero Hincapie, amongst others.

The appointment of the next Tottenham manager could play a crucial role in the club’s transfer dealings, particularly in securing the services of a quality center-back.

Tottenham fans will be keenly watching the developments around the club’s search for a new manager and its impact on the transfer market.
