Spurs looking to sign technically gifted 29-yr-old, ‘negotiations underway’

By Saikat -

Tottenham are keen on signing the Chelsea midfielder Hakim Ziyech.

The 29-year-old has had a mediocre spell at Chelsea so far and he has been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge this summer.

According to journalist Toni Juanmarti, Spurs are looking to offer the player an exit route before the window closes and ‘negotiations underway between the two London clubs’.

Ziyech has not been able to hit top form since his move to Stamford Bridge and he has been linked with a return to Ajax. It will be interesting to see if he can secure a move back to Eredivisie this summer.

He played his best football in Amsterdam and a return to his comfort zone would allow him to recapture his confidence.

Meanwhile, Spurs could definitely use a quality playmaker and Ziyech could be a smart signing for them. Antonio Conte’s side have been linked with Nicolo Zaniolo from Roma earlier this summer but the Italian is set to stay in Serie A.

Ziyech is at the peak of his powers right now and if Conte can help him settle into English football, he could make a big impact for Spurs.

He picked up 8 goals and 6 assists in 44 appearances across all competitions for Chelsea last season.

It’s one thing playing out from the back, but to do that we need central defenders with greater vision and ability. Without Romero in the side Spurs are lacking in solidity and charisma at the back. Last night Sanchez was woeful in all honesty. In midfield their is a distinct lack of dynamism and creativity, I like Hojberg but he and Bissouma are too similar to make them an effective pairing. Perisic played well on the left, but Emerson rankles me greatly on the right with all to often poor judgement and decision making. Meanwhile Kulesveski who showed moments of brilliance blew somewhat hot and cold overall before being subbed in the second half of the game. Kane is perhaps trying to do too much while forgetting his main attribute in scoring goals, and Son is clearly and frustratingly way off form and maybe sidelining him for a bit might be the medicine he needs. What concerns me is that in Richarlison we have a player who is not only tailor made to fit straight in and who clearly makes a great impact overall, who is literally chomping at the bit to play for the full 90 and deserves to do so., why he is not being afforded this opportunity escapes me somewhat? It’s not all doom of course but I just feel that Tottenham are not quite in their stride

Spurs spent all that money for what? their still the same as last season, they brought in second class players, WHU played 100% better and should have won Spurs will win nothing, they will never compete with the big boys

West Ham took apart our severely limited defence at times and should’ve scored more ..like every other team we have played this season bar Soton ..
Predictable load of old gash..I hope Fulham don’t have audacity to attack what will we do

We don’t need the Chelsea man. After watching another bore fest this evening I find Conte’s continuing use of Son rather perplexing, he lacks energy, movement and err- goals. He is off the pace. Some say he’s playing out of position but that’s 5 games now-come on! Mind you he’s not alone in the energy and movement department is he? The whole team lacks dynamism and this constant tapping the ball about from left to right at the back is just a waste of time. But perhaps that’s the whole point? When we finally come up against a truly in form side I fear we will get taken apart. Luckily for us West Ham were equally awful so perhaps a fair result in the end.
