Spurs have ‘intensified’ contacts to sign 24-yr-old, official offer could arrive ‘within a few days’

By Saikat -

Tottenham remain keen on signing Roger Ibanez from Roma during the summer transfer window.

According to a report from Roma Giallorossa the Italian club will have to raise €30 million by the end of the month and selling Ibanez is their only option right now.

The newly appointed Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou is an admirer of the Brazilian defender and Tottenham are now set to step up efforts to sign the player.

The report claims that contacts have now ‘intensified’ between the two parties and an official offer to Roma could arrive ‘within a few days’.

Apart from Tottenham, West Ham have been monitoring the defender since last summer as well.

Ibanez is valued at €30-35 million but he could be allowed to leave for an offer of around €25-30 million.

Tottenham certainly have the financial resources to get the deal done and they should look to secure an agreement with the Italian club soon.

It is no secret that Tottenham need to bring in defensive reinforcements, especially with how players like Eric Dier and Davinson Sanchez have performed this past season.

Spurs have looked quite vulnerable defensively and they will have to improve in that department.

Ibanez could be a quality partner for Cristian Romero at the heart of Tottenham’s defence. Furthermore, he is versatile enough to operate as a full back and he could be an asset for Tottenham and Postecoglou in the coming seasons.

The reported price seems quite reasonable for a player of his ability and the north London giants should look to get the deal done soon.
