There have been conflicting reports regarding the future of Dejan Kulusevski at Tottenham Hotspur, but according to reliable Tottenham expert Alasdair Gold, the club is set to sign the Swedish winger on a permanent deal in the summer.
Initially, there were concerns that Spurs might not exercise the option to buy Kulusevski due to their failure to qualify for the Champions League this season.
The loan agreement included a clause that would have made the transfer obligatory if Tottenham had achieved a top-four position. However, with their absence from Europe’s premier club competition, Spurs no longer are obligated to buy him for €35m.
Despite the absence of a contractual obligation, it appears that Tottenham are keen on securing Kulusevski’s services permanently.
Alasdair Gold, speaking on his YouTube channel, affirmed that the club expects to sign the 23-year-old winger. He emphasised that Kulusevski is viewed as a key part of Tottenham’s plans for the upcoming season. He said (41:38 onwards):
“There’s been some reports I saw from Italy suggesting that his loan might end and he might go back to Juventus.
“From what I understand, Spurs expect to sign him.
“If you’re not aware, part of his loan deal was that if Spurs finished top four, it would become an obligation to sign it. Otherwise, it would just become an option.
“But from what I understand Spurs are likely, or expecting to take that option. He’s very much being seen as a Tottenham player for next season.”
Kulusevski joined Spurs on loan from Juventus in January of last year and made an instant impact, contributing with goals and assists to help the team secure a Champions League spot.
This season, he has encountered injury setbacks and struggled to replicate his earlier form, but Tottenham still values his potential and sees him as a significant addition to their attacking options.
If the reports of Tottenham’s intention to sign Kulusevski on a permanent deal are accurate, it would provide a boost to the club as they aim to improve their performances and compete for honors in the upcoming season.
The Swedish winger’s flair and creativity would add depth to their attacking lineup, giving Tottenham fans reason to be excited about their team’s prospects.
