Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly set to enter the race against Newcastle United to secure the signing of Crystal Palace defender Joachim Andersen this summer transfer window.
According to a report by Alan Nixon, Spurs chairman Daniel Levy ‘has been after Andersen since his Fulham days’.
Crystal Palace are open to selling Andersen in order to raise funds for their own transfer activities. However, they are expected to demand a fee of around £50 million for the talented defender as per the report.
It is also said that the new Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou ‘is keen‘ on signing the player. His ability to play from the back and be composed in possession is perfect for the way the Australian likes to play.
Spurs have had a busy transfer window so far as they continue their summer rebuild. They have already signed James Maddison, Guglielmo Vicario, and Manor Solomon. They have also completed the permanent transfers of Dejan Kulusevski and Pedro Porro.
With their focus now turning to strengthening the defense, Spurs have been linked with several other defensive targets, including Micky van de Ven, Edmond Tapsoba, and Victor Nelsson, in addition to Andersen.
Solidifying the defense is crucial for the club, especially considering the fast-paced attacking style of play that Postecoglou aims to implement.
Tottenham had the poorest defensive record among the top half teams in the league last season, conceding 63 goals.
