Spurs consider free transfer move for ex-England international who will make zero impact on first XI

By Rob S -

Tottenham Hotspur need to strengthen many areas of their squad.

We are crying out for a back-up striker to cover for Harry Kane. Our full-backs are simply not good enough and we are still yet to replace Mousa Dembele in the centre of the park.

One area where things are pretty sound is in goal. Hugo Lloris, despite the odd howler, is as good as we are going to get, while Paulo Gazzaniga and Michel Vorm are solid deputies.

So, it is slightly frustrating that the biggest piece of Spurs transfer news this weekend is a report by The Telegraph claiming we are considering a summer move for Ben Foster.

The 36-year-old is reportedly being eyed as a potential back-up for Lloris. But why? The former England stopper, who won eight caps between 2007 and 2013, is no better than Gazzaniga.

Foster’s stock did rise this weekend though, as he kept a clean sheet in Watford’s 3-0 win over Liverpool.

His contract is up in less than six months.
