This has been a horrible season for Thomas Frank, and there’s no indication that it’s likely to improve anytime soon. The squad is ravaged with injuries, results have been appalling, bar in Europe, and now it looks as if another top player, in Micky van de Ven, is set for the departure lounge in N17.
talkSPORT is now citing a fee for Micky van de Ven of some £100 million, and the most likely suitors are the boy’s childhood club, Liverpool.
Liverpool are developing a keen interest in the Tottenham Hotspur and Netherlands centre-back. This comes after Liverpool missed out on other defensive targets like Marc Guehi.
Van de Ven, 24, is seen as a strong fit for Arne Slot’s system due to his pace, ball-playing ability, and recovery speed—ideal for a high defensive line. As a Dutch international, he could also complement Virgil van Dijk long-term.
Fellow talkSPORT host Alan Brazil concurred and felt Van de Ven ‘could just slot in at Man City, but that seems a stretch, given they just signed Marc Guehi, and Liverpool are looking at 34-year-old Virgil van Dijk and thinking about the future.

Van de Ven is under contract with Spurs until 2029, but he’s reportedly resisted offers to sign a new, improved deal.
Liverpool is monitoring the situation closely, and any serious move in the summer would “test Spurs’ resolve” to keep him.
Tottenham are said to be demanding a massive fee—in excess of £100 million (potentially a world-record for a defender)—to even consider selling, amid interest from other clubs like Manchester United, Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich. No concrete bid has been made yet; it’s early links ahead of the summer window.
This isn’t the first time Liverpool have been connected—there were rumours back in 2023 when he was at Wolfsburg (before Spurs signed him), but they cooled off then due to concerns over his physicality or cost. The combination of a long contract and the fit at Anfield make this a frankly terrifying rumour for Spurs fans.
