Oh Teddy, Teddy! Teddy, Teddy, Teddy, Teddy, Teddy Smith!
For those of you who are not yet familiar with the name (yep, probably all of you), he is a 24-year-old goalkeeper who is reportedly set to join Spurs on a free transfer.
Smith made nine England appearances for the U18s, U19s and U20s between 2013 and 2016 and was on the books at Southend United until being released at the end of last season.
According to Football Insider, Smith has now agreed terms with Tottenham and is set to sign on a free transfer to bolster our goalkeeping ranks, following Brandon Austin’s loan departure for Viborg in Denmark.
Some real Spurs anoraks may recognise Smith, as he was briefly on trial with us in the summer and appeared in a reserve friendly against Dulwich Hamlet, which ended in a 1-1 draw.
He also played in a 2-2 draw with Ebbsfleet Town.
Smith is better known in the depths of the Football League community, having racked up 26 EFL starts for Southend.
This is just stating the fact that their are plenty of players out there who can make it after initial failure, the one that sticks out for me is Ben Foster , who as third choice keeper at Stoke went on loan to Wrexham. Everyone, or those who had a clue , could see the boy was outstanding , they had a home game against Man U , a friendly I think, and Ferguson attended the game and immediately signed him for Utd , so maybe this lad can come good.
Nobody has put forward a coherent argument to challenge our feelings because our feelings are based on fact.

Top 4 in a normal club where the money doesn’t disappear would eventually bring trophies as the extra income and higher profile of the club, would eventually bring a level of player that would win trophies. That’s not a difficult concept to get your head round. Now we have a scenario where loads of players have left, and the ones from the u23s are all heading to the lower leagues, yet Cullen tells us the academy is blossoming!!!! Sales including 3 first team squad, with only 2 coming in. Don’t have to be Carol vordermans love child to work out that we are weaker by definition now. The bale nonsense was the carrot left dangling for the idiots to cling onto, which they duly did. I’m not being told off anybod that by us having this discussion we are anti spurs. Hate to say I told you so, or that many of us saw this coming, but we did.
Every manager at Spurs is undermined one way or another by Levy. He almost seems scared to put a manager in a position where they could get the fans on side and question ENIC’s spending.
While the manager has one hand tied behind his back, he’ s forever the slightly lame dog rather than the thoroughbred greyhound he could be with the right tools to do the job.
Look at Klopp, he couldn’t get Liverpool above Spurs until their defence and goalkeeper issues were sorted out, and at great cost. If you put Klopp in charge of this Spurs squad he would have the same issues that Poch had and now Jose has.
This is all about having a coherent transfer policy and the financial commitment to go with it.
Levy got lucky with Poch, he galvanised a young, hungry group of players at very little cost as a result. Now the reality is that the players are no longer young and Poch is no longer there. Maureen is a manager who likes to work with seasoned pros and our seasoned pros are leaving the club one by one. We just don’t sign seasoned pros either.
What’s the plan? There isn’t one…
I’ve given up even worrying about it. The club is run more like a bloody winkle stall…

Imagine my complete surprise when I woke up this morning to not see lots of pictures of Bale holding up his Spurs shirt.I just can’t think how the world’s greatest negotiator failed to get that deal over the line.How those dastardly Spanish people must have ganged up on him.

It means they are planning even though they have a winning squad…come on Tapp, Levy is reactive not proactive whenever it comes to recruitment..the board very rarely deal with getting a player we so desperately need..we also end up using players out of their natural position to fill the gap, always short….yes other teams need players but NO striker in our squad (Jose plays with a front man so we should at least have two on the books), we got rid of three FB’s (if you include Tripps) and haven’t replaced them..got rid of two strikers and haven’t replaced them…our managers are always left short, these two new players are again “ones for the future”….don’t get me wrong, Stevey looks good but doesn’t get us what we need now…if we were in for Dybala and Bruno, where’s that money gone?

On Jan 1st, our only striker, we being the only league club with a solitary striker, gets injured. So for 30 days we have known as a matter of upmost urgency we needed a striker. As the chaps have stated below other areas were also quite desperate. And here we are now finding that the people in the u23s are going out to Macclesfield, orient and all the other football promised lands. Yet these people were gonna be the answer to out prayers???? Let’s have this right, and don’t anybody say we are wrong for saying this because your deluded. That rat does not give a toss about our football club. That’s a fact. We now have a squad. Wanyama is STILL a Spurs player.

This debacle shows you all you need to know about Levy, ENIC and what their motives are… nothing to do with football.
I wanted Poch backed, that’s all history now but Levy sacks him, brings in Jose as someone to turn the poor form around and doesn’t back him either!
Levy expected some kind of miracle from Jose, to get that same group of players from two and a half years ago up to the same level again. Poch galvanised a young team which became greater than the sum of its parts.
Now top 4 is slipping away, Levy has made some unconvincing moves to try and freshen up this neglected, dead team. Poch supposedly ‘overtrained’ them. Vastly different appreciation from Jose but no improvement.
The reason why we haven’t kicked on is because Levy has no desire to. Levy doesn’t like managers having any real say over the direction of things at the club. Which is why Jose will not last. Poch was a punt that worked out on the 17th net spend, Jose isn’t, especially when you factor in the neglect by the owners.
