Gareth Bale’s return to passable form for a man on in excess of £600,000 a week has taken a good while, signed in August, only really began moving at speed in March. It was understandable that fans were going to express discontent at the poor return on Daniel Levy’s most expensive salary, ever.
I’m not sure about the not saying anything stupid element, Bale’s Instagram posting sent José Mourinho into a rage which saw the Portuguese go public to ensure that everybody knew that the boy’s training session had not gone well, in fact, had quit in order to get a scan of his leg, which then showed nothing.
Getting back to winning ways is where we all want to be, but Spurs need to win silverware, not just eke out an existence by thumping European minnows and teams like Burnley who are having off-days. These quotes from The Enfield Independent are pleasing, but after so much wasted time, Tottenham will expect further improvement and there is a cup final booked.
“Massive March” starts here!
If Bale is fit then start him alongside Son and Kane. Set up to attack with wingbacks and take the possession away from our defensive frailties. Look to get ahead in the first half then bring any subs on around 65 mins.
The first team squad still has too many players who either use their weaker foot for balance only, are uncomfortable in possession or do not have the energy levels to regularly track runners… im not sure any manager will be given the time to address all of these issues. If Bale starts more games, we’ll probably need to deploy Japhet at RB as if not against the better teams we’ll just get overloaded too regularly.
👏
Ian st John RIP
The money side of things is an issue, but I doubt he negotiated that part of the deal, however if we focus on what the man brings in quality and the undoubted positives other players are getting from being alongside, then Gareth is priceless .
