Always has a soft spot for Lothar Matthäus, he was absolutely one of the inspirational footballers his generation.
In the early 80s I was a Spurs fan living a short bike ride from the Borussia Mönchengladbach stadium; it felt like there was a German version of Perryman playing just up the road.
Matthäus was also a winner. That was the metric then, and that remains the metric now. Matthäus is a legend.
It turns out that Christian Eriksen has been on the radar of Bayern Munich for some time – as outlined in this recent Harry Hotspur blog.
It also turns out that Lothar Matthäus doesn’t rate the Dane – and I’d argue – rightly so. Eriksen is not a legend.
Matthäus spoke in no uncertain terms to Sport1, and Matthäus spoke the truth.
Eriksen has been abysmal for Spurs since he decided that he wanted to be a Real Madrid player, making himself largely unworthy of a transfer to anyone good.
The jig is up for our number 23, and the sooner he slopes off and out of Haringey the better.

We should all be realistic now and accept that the Poch era is now over. Anybody who has lasted five years under Levy deserves canonization, but some of my sympathy for Poch has been eroded as he accepted thirty pieces of silver from Levy. Any of the illustrious managers mentioned in this blog would never have put up with Enic and Levy and would have walked out years ago. Levy could not believe his luck with Poch. Whilst he blundered on going twice over budget and one season over delivery time. whilst dishonestly accepting season ticket sales, Poch produced miracles on a limited budget. Never mind one’s feelings over Poch and his abilities, this is a dead parrot now.
