In what will have been a tough call, I’m advised that Harry Kane will feature later on today, however, it wasn’t clear whether this meant to start or simply be on the bench. The key issue here is, one guesses is would Kane be taking part if this was a less than consequential Premier League game, or would the England captain have been advised to sit his next game out and reappraise his ankle after more rest.
Kane’s injury itself wasn’t typical in this instance, despite the 27-year-old having been plagued with ankle niggles over time. Watching the game against Everton, this latest injury was forced by the weight of an Everton player upon Harry Kane’s lower leg, causing Harry to roll his ankle. Kane was able to walk off with a mild limp – which may indicate that this isn’t a hugely serious injury – but by the same token – what was pivotal here was bad the swelling and subsequent bruising became.
Judging by the recently released training pictures, Kane appears to be holding up well.
Kane needs to be on the field even if he’s not fully fit; he draws defenders more than most and even if not up to his usual speed has an eye for a splitting pass. His presence would also create more space for the likes of Son & Bale to exploit. If he can’t start then he’s still too injured to play at all is how I see it, and in that case we’re done for. If we win without Kane on the field for a majority of the match I’ll start a petition to keep the Boy Wonder in the hot seat for next season.
Honestly any side from the last 8 years minus the poch last year and now would be second or third .
Thats what is so frustrating it is there for the taken ,a god dam freebie ,even Levy must see it.
I think you’re right about 4th.It’s amazing that just like recent seasons when we struggle to pick up points so do the clubs just below us.It’s bizarre we are in a position still for a minor euro place.
I would start him on the bench. If there is nothing in it after 60 minutes he could make a difference, but if we are getting hammered why risk it.Stay fit for the next league match.
It is a one off game and yeah lets win it or at least bloody try, if we have a performance like the Europa league i will go nuts.
4th is not happening i would guess after Cheatski’s win yesterday .
On Kane it is either healed and strong enough or not , just to add to the conundrum Levy might have a say as he wouldn’t want Kane to damage it more for the Summer sale and lose 30 mil.
I labelled it that given that its by far the least respected trophy out of them all. But I’m one of those that wants to win this, maybe over even getting 4th.
Lifting a trophy is a marker of achievement, a tangible stamp that some form of success has been achieved. Spurs fans deserve to go to sleep feeling like champions at least once in a while
Personally it’s my preference winning a trophy we last won the same League Cup in 2008!!
No danger. Starts.
Poxy trophy ?… yet citeh want it every year, why is Kane trying desperately to be fit for a …poxy trophy ?
Let’s face it, 4th place is a dream.
I know this is a poxy trophy but don’t we at least deserve this one rare moment of joy and sense of victory?
What’s more essential, making the Champions League or trying to with this? It’s a conundrum, if Kane ruled himself out of the league run in, just for this game that we are outsiders for it’s a tough call…
