Injury expert has revealed the damage caused by Yves Bissouma’s wild challenge on Ryan Yates during their 2-0 win over Nottingham Forest.
Bissouma was sent marching orders in the 70th minute after he made late contact with Forest captain catching him high on the leg with his studs.
Initially, the referee issued the midfielder a yellow card. Upon being instructed by the VAR to review on the pitch-side monitor, he changed his decision, upgrading the yellow card to a red, and rightly so.
Dr Rajpal Brar, who an expert in sports medicine has now revealed that Bissouma’s challenge left Yates with a damaged ligament damage.
He told Tottenham News:
“I have to concur with Sherwood’s assessment with him calling it a disgusting challenge.
“If the opponent’s foot is planted and there’s enough force, that could certainly cause some ligament damage to the knee.
“Just a poor challenge which can endanger the safety.“
Bissouma’s tackle was reckless and dangerous. Not only has he left Yates with a damaged ligament, he has also made things bad for Ange who is already working with a depleted squad.
The red card has resulted in a four-match ban, first of which he served during their 2-1 win over Everton.
