“It’s nearly over” Sky Sports presenters drop some great updates for Spurs fans [image]

By The Boy -

Some transfers take longer than others. As Tottenham fans, we’re well-used to the jigs and reels. Sky Sports’ Michael Bridge parodied this by tweeting an image of him in front of the camera, sporting white hair and a beard, which I understand are bang on trend right now.

Sky Sport’s Lyall Thomas fleshed out the Djed Spence story, by adding that the negotiations appear to be in their final furlongs, with the fee allegedly being £12.5 million rising to a potential total in the region of £20 million, if the proposed add-ons are achieved.

He might have been, but now I’d take him over Royal and Doherty. He’s a solid Premiership fullback these days, so short memory or just paying attention to the present?

He was a young man who was ambitious and wanted to play. Whilst I agree that he was not the finished article at Spurs , he has improved enough to play for England. If he was not rated at Spurs, why did the club insist on a buy-out clause? Are you trying to tell me that Doherty and Emerson are substantially better than him. Finally, he is English.

KWP was a lightweight child who wasn’t getting a game because he was the wrong side of bang average and so left to play football – which to be fair I take my hat off to him for.

Dropping £30m on him would have been an absolute joke.

It is annoying it has dragged on, but that is signing number 6 now. We are almost done with 3wks to spare – others are nowhere near done yet

Decent player – tall, pacy, attack-minded. Conte will mould him defensively too.

Both him and Perisic are upgrades and suit the system. Need a quality CB now (and to move Sanchez on).

Maybe Sky et al want Spurs fans to get their transfer rocks off once a week rather than be all blown out in three days?!

Why do I get the feeling this is just another Damiao saga?

Can’t see him making it as a regular if we’re intending to step everything up…

That’s because Levy took personal control of this deal.

KWP is certainly no worse than Doherty or Royal so like you, I fail to see the logic in selling him when we did.

Spence ticks the homegrown box and it probably means Winks can go… as much an ‘admin’ signing as anything else. So why it takes so long I have no idea…

Most big clubs get deals like this sort of deal done quickly. £12.5m? Just get it done ffs…

I would have seriously contemplated triggering KWP’s buy back clause of £30 million as I never understood why we sold him and sell Emerson and Doherty who are not good enough to win the PL if that is really what we are aspiring for. It appears that Pau Torres is joining Juve which I think is a miss, particularly as Villareal want Lo Celso.

Really disappointed with this signing.
It’s been well documented on this blog that Spence isn’t an upgrade on what we have already.
I felt that the delay was because the Paratici had seen the analysis on here and had second thoughts. Perhaps he lost his nerve.
They never listen to the scouting experts.
