‘Situation hasn’t changed’: Journalist claims £60m star prefers a move to Tottenham

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for James Maddison in recent weeks.

The Leicester City midfielder is expected to leave the club this summer and join a Premier League club. The 26-year-old is clearly too good for the Championship and he is unlikely to stick around in the second division.

The £60m player has been linked with clubs like Newcastle United and Tottenham in recent weeks and Liam Kennedy has now revealed that the player prefers to move to Tottenham and wants to join a London club.

“Maddison is an interesting case to be honest, we saw a story from Scott Wilson at the start of the week who was in the England camp. I think it’s probably the worst kept secret in football that James Maddison preferred a move to Tottenham and London, and that situation hasn’t changed,” Kennedy said.

The revelation will certainly come as a blow for Newcastle who are in need of creative midfielders.

Maddison should prove to be a quality acquisition for the north London club. Spurs need creativity and goals from the central areas and Maddison will help create more opportunities for players like Harry Kane. Furthermore, the 26-year-old England international is exceptional from direct free kicks and he will add a new dimension to the Tottenham attack.

The 26-year-old has proven himself in the Premier League over the years, and he should be able to settle in and make an immediate impact at Tottenham.

Despite Leicester City’s relegation, Maddison managed to score 10 goals and pick up nine assists in the Premier League this past season and he is certainly good enough to play for the best clubs in the league.

A move to Tottenham would be the ideal next step in his career, and it would allow him to showcase his qualities at the highest level. He will fancy his chances of competing for trophies with Tottenham.

The north London giants appointed Ange Postecoglou as their new manager and 57-year-old Australian is known for his free-flowing attacking football. Maddison could be the ideal fit in his system and Postecoglou could get the best out of the 26-year-old midfielder next season.
