Sevilla looking to beat Tottenham to Turkish international

By Bruce Grove -

A report from Turkey is claiming that Sevilla has made an offer to Trabzonspor’s for Ugurcan Cakir, who is also a target of Tottenham.

Spurs are looking to strengthen some areas of their team ahead of Jose Mourinho’s first full season in charge.

Tottenham have brought in the Portuguese boss to help them win some trophies, and he will need to strengthen his team if he is to challenge for a trophy next season.

One area that the club wants to strengthen is the goalkeeping position as Hugo Lloris gets older.

Spurs have trusted Paulo Gazzaniga in goal when the Frenchman has been injured this season, but the Argentinean isn’t the most consistent shot-stopper and this is one reason why Spurs has been linked with a move for Cakir.

The 24-year-old is attracting the attention of several top European sides and a Turkish Sports commentator, Ali Ece has just reported that the goalkeeper is a subject of a 20 million Euros offer from Sevilla, but he could still move to the Premier where Tottenham is targeting him alongside Leicester City.

Ece said as quoted by SportsWitness: “The most serious offer came from Sevilla, which is €20m. I don’t know what Trabzonspor’s board think about the sale of him. But I also heard and confirmed that Leicester City and Tottenham are interested in signing him.”

“However, Leicester have Kasper Schmeichel. Tottenham are in the market for a goalkeeper, too, as they want to sign a promising goalkeeper to compete with Hugo Lloris. Apart from these clubs, Ajax are also looking to sign him, if Andre Onana leaves the club.” He added

They’ll stick with Hugo and Gazza for another year or two, they’re not spending twenty million on somebody to sit and watch Hugo every week.
