Sessegnon offered Celtic loan deal as ITK is confirmed

By The Boy -

Only a week ago we brought you more news from a source close to the club, in respect of the stables being cleaned out, and this is now partly in the public domain, after being confirmed by Charlie Eccleshare of The Athletic.

Of Ryan Sessegnon it was said ‘Also, do not be surprised if Ryan Sessegnon is farmed out, I’m given to understand there’s a lot of work to do there.’ And that was certainly echoed by Charlie’s in depth piece that delves into exactly why the former Fulham lad’s career has stalled.

Going back some fair time, I recall in the prolonged build up to the Sessegnon deal, that Spurs were at one stage were also interested in Ryan’s younger brother (also at Fulham) as the two were said to be of good stock and had impressed Tottenham scouts, who were keen to strike a deal. Sadly Eccleshare’s piece hints at Ryan being another of Mourinho’s “nice boys” and it’s not just his football that needs toughening up.

Celtic have apparently expressed an interest in the now 20-year-old. Quite what the boy would learn in Escossia is anyone’s guess, and one might be tempted to suspect foul play in respect of this rumour, perhaps designed to nudge along say, a side in less rainy climes to meet Ryan’s full wage. Time will tell, but it is difficult to see how ‘Sess’ at this stage fits into José’s plans.

My experience in life is that the most useless of technical teachers were the ones most in need of giving verbal criticism.

By far the best teacher I ever experienced never raised his voice once to me. He gave me self-belief, a framework to work hard and improve and was expert in raising the bar as my performance level rose.

I came back to England and got the same old ‘really, you aren’t good enough’ BS. They who had added nothing to me started the criticism again, the man who did all the building voiced zero.

The proper ‘competitive, sporty kids’ are the reason the English national side was always taken apart by the Germans, the Dutch, the Poles, plenty of others.

Skills are the primary thing to develop young, you think Messi was going around kicking everyone aged 12?

Glad to see he’s starting today playing Leftback and not currently being shown round someone else’s training facilities . Spurs 1.0 up against Ipswich scorer Ryan Sessegnon

It’s the schooling of kids filling their heads with PC , human rights this and that, where any form of verbal criticism no matter how well intended, can result in disciplinary action against a teacher. I am not surprised by the level of mental health issues, particularly in young people, spiralling out of control.

I deal with a lot of graduates at work, and the amount that report “bullying” for simply being told they are not at good enough standard yet is sky rocketing. I help review the cases and honestly, 99% of the time the person asking for more is not only spot on, but actually going easy on them. I had to pull one graduate aside once and tell them how the world works as he expected to be considered for a senior manager roll after 6 months in company, performing less than average level, I was told that I was biased against him. Dilusional is an understand.

He will be like a new signing for us this season .When he arrived he had to bide his time in a new team in a harder league, then he was hampered with a hamstring injury further sidelining him. Then Poch got sacked and he didn’t fit in with Jose’s immediate plans deciding to go for experience. I have high hopes for this kid, gives his all in training, keen to learn and from what you read model professional, pity N’dombele couldn’t be more like him.

Tierney found out in the PL. Rest I will give you, but they served their time up there when it was at the least a 2 horse race.

Spurs are in Europe and likely Sess would play a handful of games if he stayed. What I like in Scotland for young players is the intensity, they play with real passion and kick the pretty boys into the stands. I think Celtic would be excellent loan move personally.

FYI – 9 times in a row champs just shows the league for what it is at the moment, would be harder for Celtic to not win it I think. Real shame, and should be a real worry for Celtic, they need to start to really take Europe by storm or Risk losing a lot. Or a 2nd horse needs to emerge as it’s hard to see anyone winning the league other than Celtic.

What would he learn in Escossia??well my guess would be the same as what the likes of Van Dyke,Dembele,Edouarde,Tierney and Wanyama learnt, how to be winners. No disrespect meant but the average English football fan/pundit has no real or informative grasp on Scottish football, and are quick to jump on the”it’s a mickey mouse or a farmers league” bandwagon.Ask VVD or Wanyama how “easy” it is when every game you play the opposition are “pumped up”to beat/stop the 9 in a row champs.Sessegnon would also gain European football experience at Celtic

Waste of time loaning him to Celtic or a Championship club. He needs to show he can do it in the PL. Hes already done it in the EFL. Surely Villa, West Brom or his old club Fulham will take him on loan?

i go back to my comments previously we have bred a generation of snowflakes.Unable to handle criticism they demand to be offended.
If Jose’s tactics are to weed out players like that then all power to him. We’ve been nice for too long.

And allegedly offered a bung to the cops not to pursue the case. Not a good move.
His character has been found out,he should lose the captaincy at the very least.

The Seville left back, Sergio Reguilon, looks like a good player. He’s only 23 and on loan from Real Madrid who are rumoured to be asking in the region of €23 mill. Compared to Chilwell at circa £50 mill, he looks like outstanding value.

Fine line between toughening a kid up and bullying. Coaches in the past were brutally honest to kids and that certainly toughened them up mentally. No way can that happen now. Gymnastics has been in the media recently, Bellamy as a coach too got into trouble. As soon as a kid steps up it is a culture shock, no more being treated like a hero, only the toughest ‘survive’.

Can we afford to let a player that can play left back leave right now? Davies gets crocked, Jan’s also gone, Rose won’t be involved so who have we got? I presume a left back must be on the bargain-hunt list too?

Further proof that Jose doesn’t trust young players.

Joe Hart’s former coach at Burnley sets the record straight about where his career is right now;

“He probably just thinks he’s going to pick up his wages at Tottenham, play when he’s needed, it’s an easier life, he might have that mindset now, Joe, after everything he’s gone through over the last few years.

“If he plays in the cup, Europa League, whatever competitions he’s picked to play in, I’m sure he’ll do well and I’m sure he’ll give that little bit of added competition and backup to Lloris and you never know what’ll happen.”

He needs to toughen up. He looked like a rabbit caught in the headlights last season. I think it would be better to loan him out to an EFL side where there are no easy games. The SPL is not competitive with little opposition to Celtic. Does this mean that we now need Danny Rose as Davies back up or vice versa?

It is baffling that kids who are coached their whole lives to be professional athletes cannot do it?

The proper competitive sporty kids when i were a lad were nasty, win at all costs, ruin the fun for everyone else types. So howcome football acadamies produce nervous talents?

He was so timid and ineffectual last season, a million miles from justifying all the hype. But if they want him to learn how to cope in a high-pressure environment Celtic would be a good loan, especially this season. Could even get himself some more CL experience to boot. The only problem is they play front foot, high-pressing, possession-hogging football. Hardly ideal preparation for returning to spurs.

With Sess, it’s clear Jose is not here for a long time, or a project. Could bode well for short term success, just levy needs to be careful not to get rid of too much future talent. Jose not interested in keeping young potential around in his squad, if not good enough for this season, he not interested.

On another note… If Maguire gets away without prison time questions need to be asked. From what I am hearing he resisted arrest and punched a cop after being questioned at a scene for one of his “entourage” doing something naughty.
