A magnificent debut by any standards and the arrival of another player with a fiercely attack-minded mentality. Technically there were one or two issues, but this was the 23-year-old’s first game on English soil and it was a London Derby – and a cup game.
That ball in from Reggie must be what attackers frequently dream about. Lamela’s finish was superb. Our mindset last night was a joy to behold; José seriously took on Frank’s strategies and the name of the side that won the game is Tottenham Hotspur.
More, please.
I thinks its all the current uncertainty (c19) that has stopped him from “pushing the boat out
Definately but he seems like he could manage it !!
He’ll get four from me, if he carries on taking up the spending to a level that looks even slightly ambitious then I might give him five. So far he’s not exactly broke the bank yet..
Yeah he looks like what we need. Messed up for their goal though. The intensity of English football might take some getting used to for him defensively speaking.
Carlos Vinicius From Benfica on loan is the latest. 6ft 3 Brazilian, scored 24 goals for them last season. This actually sounds plausible as Benfica are now out of the Champions League etc. They can have Moura if they like…
Reggie (that’s his name from now on) and Winks look like they could be brothers. Hasn’t Winksy got a Spanish granddad or something? I’m sure I heard that somewhere, might explain the likeness! Winksy’s grandpa got abahhrt a bit! 😂
We need to make him wanna stay so he says no to Madrid (unlikely?)
This was so refreshing because he tried something ambitious instead of just passing back been a while since we seen that
Loving the positivity if we sign cb and striker even levy gets 5 stars
was definitely poor from emerson, their third (?) choice left back. but shows you what kane can do for team mates without even touching the ball as he dragged in both CBs.
Imagine when Kane and Bale start. Will leave rest of the players with a 8v6 advantage – excluding keepers
We’ve suddenly got a team that can play with 2 wing backs and if that wasn’t sexy enough we’ve only gone and got a left sided player who can actually use his right foot and is brave enough to n’all.
Upgrades all over the gaff.
The return of Toby’s special balls (over the top).
Jose’s mind games (he done me up like a kipper).
The first half against Newcastle, the second against chelsea.
Tanguy playing 90 minutes, twice.
That’s alot of positives. And I haven’t mentioned Piere.
Everyone needs to credit Jose and the squad if it wasnt for dodgy var we would be undeniably flying.
Marcelo has two years left on his contract
The difference this guy will make to our attacking momentum cannot be underestimated. I have sat and watched “dependable Davies” receive the ball and then pass it backwards or sideways and the whole forward momentum is lost. Hopefully Docherty can find his Wolves form and with him and Requilon attacking down both flanks and with Sonny Kane and Bale hitting the box together we can expect some fireworks and spectacular goals. We just need Levy to get a striker and another CB.
Yes noticeable that according to the commentator Messi played a vital part in that move. If only. Then we really would be ready to win trophies. ENIC would want to start haggling just before the move went through.
Great looking player and a big upgrade on the solid but less spectacular Davies. Reg Rapido couldn’t have endeared himself to Spurs fans more than by setting up the goal that resulted in chelski being dumped out of the cup!
Alba reference is spot on 👊
Yep gotta close down quicker here. He’ll get that. He’ll be better than Benny. I liked Benny
Looked like Tobes was the one who hit the diagonal. Now, if it had been Ben Davies instead of Sergio, the ball would have either gone out for a goal kick or he would have stopped and passed it back to someone.
I think we’ll be very fortunate to keep him for the two years if he keeps up this performance. Marcelo isn’t getting any younger, so RM might want to pension him off at the end of this season.
A great cross and some good communication from Lamela. That said the Chelsea defending was a bit lax in allowing Lamela to ghost in behind. Luckily he had enough time to get the ball onto his trusty left foot.
Saw a clip of Sergio in action, tracking back, sprinting back 40 yds to make a successful tackle on a Chelsea attacker who never saw him coming. Great effort and commitment.
His right foot as well, perfect little dink. Noticed that Reg had a serious sudden burst of pace too. Jordi Alba esq bombing down the flank… He needs to sharpen up defensively though, more than twice he should have been closing players down. Gave them shots on goal.. The lads only just got off the plane though. Great debut in not the easiest of derbies.
It was a beautiful thing.
Nice assist from Messi. Lovely diagonal ball from was it Hojbjerg?
