Tottenham Hotspur remain keen on adding defensive reinforcements to the side this summer and Torino defender Perr Schuurs remains a target for them.
According to journalist Ben Jacobs, the 23-year-old Dutchman has been discussed internally as a potential target, and it remains to be seen whether Tottenham come forward with a concrete proposal to sign him.
“Perr Schuurs I think is still being discussed internally, and he could be a player at a little bit more value than some of the other names being discussed,” Jacobs said on Last Word on Spurs.
The defender has been linked with a move away from the Italian club in recent weeks and a number of other English clubs have been linked with him as well.
Schuurs has done well since joining Torino and he has established himself as a key player for the Italian outfit.
Apart from his qualities as a defender, the Dutchman remains an excellent passer from the deep and he is regarded as one of the finest ball-playing defenders in the Italian league.
Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou prefers a free-flowing attacking style of football and he could certainly use a defender like Schuurs who is an expert on the ball and will help build attacking moves with his passing from the deep.
The opportunity to play for Spurs will be an attractive option for the 23-year-old defender as well. It would be a major step up in his career and he would get to showcase his qualities at the highest level.
The 23-year-old is still quite young and he is likely to improve further with coaching experience. If Tottenham sign him for a reasonable price this summer, it could prove to be a solid, long-term investment for them.
Tottenham have already signed his compatriot Micky van de Ven earlier this summer.
